π π¨βπ§βπ§ π for the writer prompts, please!
Ohhhhhh yes! These are good ones! Thank you, friendo! Find the ask list here :)
π Who is one character you havenβt yet written for that you would like to? A: Answered here :)
π¨βπ§βπ§ Do you tell people in real life that you write fic?Β A: Yes? In the broadest of terms. "I write Dragon Age fanfic". I have never suggested someone in my real life read my fics, nor offered my username to someone I know irl haha.
π What is one growth area you have for your writing? A: Ooooooooh. SO! This is complex, but, I went to a really amazing, weeklong writer's workshop this time last year, and one of the pros gave me this amazing advice that I am STILL chewing on. Basically, it's about controlling narrative time and the perception of time. Using character interiority with intention in order to control the reader's experience of timeβbecause, whenever you step out of the action and into the character's thoughts, you have STOPPED TIME for the reader. So, asking myself WHY did I stop time where I did, what am I wanting the reader to experience/think/feel while I've dragged them out of the flow of narrative time and have I accomplished that in this particular instance? Why or why not?
I think this is something I will continue to learn and grow and hone over the course of my writing life. I certainly have not mastered it yet. In fact, I feel like I'm only nowβa year later!βgetting to where I can reliable recognize when I've slipped out of time and when I should return to it. The why and the intention are still coming.
