Independent Vermont Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders gave a lengthy interview in 1985 in which he praised Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, defended Nicaragua's Sandinista govern
Bernie Sanders is not a Liberal, nor a Democrat. He is a self-admitted Socialist who praises Communist dictators, takes money from Vladimir Putin, and takes credit for the hard work of other, smarter people than he.
an old buddy of mine in Balls County new Hampshire voted Bernie in 2016 and a grave illness befell him. now he's a Delaney head! cheers Brog Clemp!

Y’all can vote for this racist dictator all you want. Don’t count on my vote.
To be blunt, white straight dudes love Bernie because instead of having to acknowledge their privilege they can just blame it all on capitalism and call it a day. This is why Bernie often deflects specific questions about the unique struggles of women and minorities to talk about wealth inequality as a whole.
If you read the NYT Editorial board interview he even states that racism is a product of capitalism (which is false). Of course capitalism can facilitate racism, but people don’t stop being racist just because they get better economic prospects, just like black folks don’t stop being at the receiving end of racism when they have “made it” and moved up the class structure.
What Bernie is doing is telling his white (male and female, but mostly male) supporters that they are oppressed due to poverty and in turn, they use this to silence minority groups. A woman or PoC may state what some of their experiences with sexism/racism are only to be told by a Bernie bro that these experiences are due to capitalism and they must vote for Bernie to fix it. We’ve also all seen the extortionist messages from the far-left, particularly folks like “chapo trap house” that post shit like “well, we won’t show up to vote for anyone except Bernie, so if you care about black people and women’s issues, you better vote for Bernie,” which also undercuts their message while demonstrating their own privilege within the white supremacist spaces of the far-left.
No candidate is perfect, particularly on race. Racism is also acted upon, so knowing that, we definitely have better candidates to choose from and we can acknowledge that many of our candidates have been rumbling with these issues and trying to learn, grow and listen to oppressed groups. We should continue to encourage our candidates to have those rumbles with themselves and learn to grow. But I see a lot of posts on tumblr/twitter/reddit by bernie supporters who get super confused as to how Biden has maintained such a large lead with black voters. I think it boils down to all of the above. Take that police violence town hall, when Bernie was asked about a black man being stopped by the cops, he said “respect the officer and do as he says so you don’t get shot.” Biden said “white supremacy and institutional racism is the problem here and it shouldn’t exist.” Then throw in these comments Bernie (and the left) state about “wage-slavery,” making nasty comparisons to APARTHEID, and being reductive about the total genocide that was (and is, unfortunately) slavery... It should be more obvious.
