Kurt: So... almost audition time, right? How are you feeling?
[text] I love you. Thank you.
[text] Love you, too. <3 =)
[text] Well, that was fast and enthusiastic. :P Okay, okay, I'll let Sam know and I'll profusely thank the both of them when I see them next.
[text] Thank you. I love you. <3 [text] Oh, PS, I talked to Sam earlier and he wants to come support me with Tina, so while she's on the phone with you, Sam said he could record it for you if you want? Not that there's going to be much to see, though. Just me sitting at a piano. Or... standing on stage. Whatever you want, though, I'll let him know on Monday.
[text] YES. Yes, yes, yes! Tell them both thank you for me?
[text] And I love you, too. <3
[text] I want to try, I think. If the day comes and I'm not 110% comfortable with it, I'll drop the accompaniment. But for now, I'm going to practice like I already know I'll be playing it for Carmen Tibideaux.
[text] Sounds like a good plan. =) I believe in you, Blaine.
[text] Okay, okay. You're right. He doesn't matter, I don't even know him. [text] Yes, that's all that matters... I really need to focus on the piano part when I get home.
[text] Good. =)
[text] You've decided to try the accompaniment, then? I told you; whenever you sang for me this week, you were incredible. I think you can definitely do it, but it's all up to you. Just remember to not stress yourself out too much.
[text] I know, I know. It just... I don't know, he said it and I didn't think it was that bad because, like you said, being a character actor isn't necessarily a *bad* thing, but when you actually go and look it up, it's like character actors are the rejects of Hollywood or something. It didn't sound all that insulting at first--until I saw what the rest of the world apparently thinks of character actors. [text] ...Okay. I really do want to see him eat those words, though.
[text] Stop. I mean it. You don't even need to see him 'eat those words' because you have nothing to prove to him. His opinion means nothing to you, and even if you performed flawlessly he'd still pull something out of thin air to critique it with.
[text] You just focus on being good enough for YOU, and killing your audition. That's all that matters right now, okay?
[text] No, there's nothing wrong with character actors. Some of them are *amazing* at what they do, but the definition of a character actor is, and I quote, "one who portrays individualities and eccentricities, as opposed to the legitimate actor"--like I can't make it as a legitimate actor. Wikipedia says they "lack star quality". [text] He's like a master of backhanded compliments.
[text] It works this time, but honey, for future reference, don't get all of your acting information off Wikipedia.
[text] And don't think too hard about any of it, okay?
