I'm never changing who I am

My name is Kurt Hummel. I'm set on fulfilling my dream of one day becoming a successful Broadway actor, and after being accepted into NYADA this past December, I'm on my way there. I've also acquired an internship with Vogue.com, which has been a huge honor. While I give myself due credit for my achievements, I know that none of them might have been possible without the constant love and support of my friends and family, and I am forever grateful to them all. I'm an Ohio native, but now that I'm finally living in New York City, I feel like I really was meant to be here all along. Now all that's left for me to do is to integrate myself as a part of the city that never sleeps, all the while trying to figure out exactly where life is taking me.

Okay… I know it’s asking a lot—I just wanted to be sure. I’m sure you don’t have to worry about Vogue, though. You’d be a perfect fit and you’re good at what you do, and Isabelle loves you. I can’t imagine they would just let you go without offering you something. Unless there were just no open jobs at the time, in which case you know you’d be at the top of their list as someone to call whenever they need some new employees.

And... well, I guess we'll see. I've only done mostly intern work and I don't have any real training, so I don't know what job I'd do, especially in a business this competitive. But, like I said-- we'll see.

Finn: I'm really happy too. Like cautiously happy though.

Kurt: Oh. Well, you're welcome! And don't be cautious about it-- throw caution into the wind! Connecticut, so it'll be blown out into the ocean, and not back my way, I hope.

I think we’ve got the budget pretty much covered, actually. Which, speaking of…are you sure you can’t make it out for the competition? I know graduation is coming up really quick, but I have a good feeling about Nationals and it would be great to be able to share that with you.

I'd love to-- you know I would, Blaine. I just don't know if I'll have enough in my budget right now to make three trips in one month alone. I know Rachel doesn't mind depending on her dads for some of these things, but that just doesn't sit right with me personally, regarding both myself and my family. I want to be sure I have enough saved up for a while, because I honestly don't know if Vogue.com will make me an employee after my internship time is up this fall. I just had to choose the two important events that I felt were the most so out of the three, and they were my dad's surgery and your graduation and move out here.

Finn: Things are falling together and they never do that for me. I'm waiting for something to go wrong and throw a wrench in and I don't wanna be that guy. Talk me out of it.

Kinda bummed that I had to miss prom night.

But at the same time, it’s not that big of a deal. After all, I did go last year, and I don’t think people would’ve wanted me puking on the dance floor anyways. That just sounds horrible.

Now that I know I'm moving to NYC?

Lima is even more boring.  Seriously…I need something to do.  Besides go back to doing the candy striper thing at my dad’s work.

I think everything's going to be okay.

I just spend the weekend with my dad (and Carole and Finn and Blaine...), and after worrying my head (and my dad's sanity) off and piling him with blankets, pillows, food, and my company... he seems to be doing fine. Which was a concept that took me all of three days to grasp, but... can you really blame me for worrying? He had his first checkup today, though, and everyone said he's recovering right on schedule, with no complications.

...Which gives me time to relax just in time for me to have absolutely nothing in my schedule. Well, nothing but work, anyway. Tomorrow is my last day of exams, and then school's out for the summer on Wednesday. I've made it through a semester of NYADA alive! I really can't believe I'm still standing, after everything in the past two months. Adam's going to take Rachel and I out to dinner to celebrate Wednesday night, and then I'll be heading to a Hummel-Hudson household near you (well, some of you, anyway) in about 3 weeks' time!

I guess I should make an update.

I haven't been online today because... well, I wouldn't have even known what to say. Even though Carole and Finn said the surgery went well (multiple times, thanks to my frequent calls), I've been a mess since this morning worrying about it. I've tried not to think about it all week, and with the musical and exams, it just sprung up on me. Rachel had been smothering me all day, and while I know she only meant well, I just couldn't take it anymore along with everything else, so I snapped. I'm just really glad I had Adam here to help me cope and keep my head on straight. The surgery did go well, like I said before. Because of his age and previous heart problems, they're going to keep him in the hospital until sometime Friday afternoon, just to be sure. By which time I'll be nearly on a plane there to be with him, thankfully. I hate that I can't be there. I know why it has to be this way, but I still hate it. Anyway, our last performance of Anything Goes was Sunday night, and it was an amazing success! Everyone was in top form, and Blaine actually had flowers sent to me! I'm still trying to figure out how he managed that. As for the next few days, it's exam week and I'm spending the weekend in Lima with my dad, so don't be surprised if you don't hear from me in a while. ...Again.

Sorry I wasn't around much yesterday.

School was unusually brutal—or maybe I was just imagining it because I was so nervous for my audition. I think taking a break Wednesday and Thursday might have actually helped, though. A little, at least. I’ve never been so nervous for a performance in my life, but Tina and Sam were both there so…that helped a little. Carmen TIbideaux didn’t say much which…worries me. A lot. It was kind of a she came, she watched, she went kind of thing. Tina insists it was my best performance yet, but I really don’t know about that. I came home, took a shower, talked to Kurt, ate dinner, and crashed at, like, 9:30.

I don’t know what to do now. I guess I just…focus on helping Sam with prom and wait?

At least it's over though, right? Waiting for a letter to come now is it's own special kind of brutality, but at least you don't have anything else to do. What's done is done, and it's less weight on your shoulders. That's how I felt after my audition, anyway.

It does, doesn’t it? It makes sense, though. Both, to be honest. Long term I’ve been trying to put the finishing touches on, and short term I’m just trying to keep up with. Totally! There’s no way I’d miss it.

Well, you'll have to let Blaine know how it goes-- I'm sure, as one of the organizers, he'd like to get some feedback. He'll be staying in with me that night, though. I think three proms are a bit too much for both of us, and he's also had the Sadie Hawkins dance earlier this year. And as for me, personally, I'm not sure I'll be in the mood to do much so soon after my dad's surgery.

I’m going to get a job, but starting in the spring worries me.  Since I could finish an associate’s in a year, I could theoretically start at a 4-year the following fall.  But, most programs have sequential classes.  And they usually start in the fall.  If I’m pushed back to spring…I’d probably have to skip a semester again later.  So, I’d be a year behind.  But, it’s cool.  There’s a place in NJ if I’m willing to drive.

...Or you could wait until next fall? It would beat driving, especially because if you miraculously find an affordable apartment that also offers parking, it'll probably be an additional $100 a month for that, and then there's the cost of gas, and you'll getting stuck in traffic every morning...

Whatever you want, but I just want you to know that there's nothing wrong with going to school a little late. It's not like you're racing against anyone.

It's been a good day.

I think fussing over my dad all day actually distracted me from being nervous about the show, somehow. Adam said I gave my best performance so far tonight, and I couldn't be happier that it was with so much of my friends and family in the audience.

I also got to talk to Blaine before the show, and Tina was wonderfully sneaky and recorded his audition for me, but I'll let him tell you about it on his own! I just couldn't be prouder of him, whatever the outcome. =)

A break from work, Kurt’s play, trying to hang with my stepdad, seeing Quinn… only stuff to be excited about for this weekend.  Before work and life continue to absolutely dominate my ass for a few more weeks.

I’ve just been super busy lately. After getting back from Lima on Sunday, I had a good chunk of homework to do for Monday, which wasn’t fun. At all. But, it’s over now and that’s all that matters! My Monday and Tuesday afternoons were filled with more homework, and a little time in the studio. Other than that, I’ve just been sleeping and trying to wrap my head around the future and graduation and stuff. How are the rest of you?
