a story idea you haven’t written yet

THERE'S OH SO MANY OF THEM, HELP, THEY HAVE ME OUTNUMBERED AND THEY DON'T LIKE HOW I HAVE TREATED THEM THE LAST MANY MONTHS.

At least, the ones I haven't finished yet outnumber me. In terms of things I haven't written at all, actually, I don't know that I have any? I'm keeping an eye out for new fic ideas because it feels weird to not have any new ideas in the hopper. Just don't tell the WIPs.

where do you get your inspiration?

Lately it's been a little thin on the ground, not gonna lie! But I figure that's a muscle that can be stretched and got back into shape. Or like, when people say a batter has a good eye? I'm wanting to train my inspiration eye again. And an eye is a muscle, right? Nailed it. This metaphor is flawless.

I love getting prompts from other fans. Events and exchanges can be fun, but I really love (and miss, with not having been active in an active fandom in a while) just the natural exchange of ideas? I remember reading a Community fic once where there was a throw away joke about Britta the Vampire Slayer and I left a comment like PLEASE CAN I WRITE THIS I WILL GIVE YOU CREDIT - that kind of thing is the best.

Also, I love an idea that comes from a question. I accidentally mistyped Adam's name once as "Adam Lynch" and initially went "lol like Adam would ever change his name" and then thought...well, I don't know, what would it take for me to find it plausible that he'd change his name? Can I sell that idea to myself?

My other favorite place to get ideas is when there's just one moment of something that gets stuck in your head and won't go away? I think there's three different fics in the LA verse that were inspired by throw away lines from other fics in the LA verse. The Boston verse was inspired by a joke in a true crime podcast. A friend of mine said she dropped her phone while reading on the treadmill and I was like "hm what if Ronan did that." I think it's like, when you're into a fandom and suddenly ~*~every song~*~ is about your blorbo (even when it doesn't actually fit at all)? Weird thoughts that get attached to characters and then turn into fics, I love that shit.

Oh my god after the first two episodes of season 2? NEITHER. They're both messes! 🤣I'm kidding (kind of)

Okay, but seriously. Let me think this through. Ted is enthusiastic and thoughtful and I am so incredibly attracted to that strange mustached man. However I am in the camp that could see his enthusiasm getting annoying. Rebecca is rich and gorgeous and probably goes on very fun and fancy dates, but I don't really see us having much in common.

You know what? Fuck it, I'm dating them both in a poly situation. I don't want to be the person getting in the way of those two banging.

I'm all over the place with Brett, sometimes he makes me swoon and sometimes it's more like "meh"? I think it averages out to "adorable".

Hannah:

She has some kind of quality, doesn't she? Stateliness or strikingness or something. Incredible.

Jason:

Never really saw it before Ted Lasso and the Flanders moustache doesn't help.

Tim:

I will say that I think my ideal Tim probably exists somewhere in between "extremely clean cut" and "all of the hair and beard" and he does not seem to spend a lot of time in that realm. Perhaps he knows I cannot handle it.

Manny:

ARE PEOPLE EVEN ALLOWED TO HAVE FACES LIKE THAT?!

Sandra:

It's sort of an intellectual appreciation, like, I see her and am like "that is a gorgeous woman" but I'm not really reacting to her. I think maybe I associate her too much with my childhood and/or with my grandmother, who used to say when I was a kid that they should cast me to play young Sandra Bullock because we looked so much alike. (For the record, the resemblance begins and ends with us both being white brunettes, but I suppose that's the kind of thing grandmothers do, right?)
