since everyone keeps asking me to explain the nevertheless webtoon and plot i thought i’d make one post about it that everyone can read
this is a proper spoiler post that will explain pretty much the whole plot of the webtoon (it will be long i’m already warning you all) i also don’t want any messages from anyone afterwards saying i spoiled the plot for y’all lmao anyways click the 'keep reading' to see all the spoilers… have fun ✌🏽
i’ll start off by saying that the webtoon was very confusing to understand and overall i thought it was pretty mediocre but that’s my own personal opinion someone else could actually love the storyline but i think it just wasn’t for me
they do enter a friends with benefits relationship in the webtoon because jae eun straight up tells nabi he doesn’t do relationships and that’s all he wants from her and they’re both okay with just sleeping with one another with no strings attached but then nabi catches feelings for jae eun because they do end up spending so much time together and kind of get to know one another in the process
she continues on with this friends with benefits relationship for sometime (none of their friends also know they’re together like this) but then decides to end this with jae eun because she realises she’s falling for him but he’s someone who can never be serious
but then jae eun gets into a fight with someone (he was sleeping with an engaged woman and the woman’s brother finds out and beats him up) and after the fight that’s when he confesses to nabi that he had a crappy childhood where his parents used to sleep around with others and he knew but he wants to try be a better person and be more serious in his relationships
so jae eun decides to try out a relationship with his ex gf (his only real relationship too) and that makes nabi very jealous to the point where she runs into his gf by chance but ends up sabotaging his relationship by explaining how he was sleeping with her too
after doing this she feels very guilty and thinks she won’t be able to face jae eun and decides to go visit her aunt outside of seoul for awhile over there she meets up with an old childhood friend (who is a chef) and still lives in the same town
they reminisce about their past and this childhood friend confesses that he liked her when they were younger but never made a move because he thought she had a boyfriend but he never really got over her - however nabi also explains her situation with jae eun and turns him down for the time being but they keep in touch over text
this childhood friend is also a complete opposite personality from jae eun… overall my point is he’s not a fuckboy also it took him over 10 years to finally confess to her so he’s that type of boy lmao
nabi comes back to seoul and her classmates and all go on this college trip together jae eun is also there… bitna asks nabi whether she likes jae eun to which nabi confesses she does… jae eun overhears this and they have a heartfelt moment together (both of them confess… break down… there’s crying… jae eun says he wants to be with her and he’s serious… he wants to show her that he can be serious with her) - jae eun also says he didn’t care she sabotaged his relationship
so after this moment you’re thinking ‘oh he got some character development yay’ but no turns out jae eun just wanted to sleep with nabi once more and then dump her because he was still pissed about her ruining his relationship so they argue and nabi tells him to leave so he does… this part in the webtoon is a little confusing idk if he was actually doing this for revenge or because he was letting nabi go (because at that moment he sees her texting her childhood friend and she’s smiling at her phone) so maybe he knew that’s the only way she’d truly get over him (it wasn’t very well written or explained lol)
anyways there’s a time skip it’s shown nabi still keeps in touch with her childhood friend and he’s also moved to seoul and they’re going to try be in a relationship together… the end scene also shows nabi seeing jae eun still being a fuckboy… literally he’s still showing some random girl his damn butterflies and that’s it the last scene and the webtoon ends lmao it definitely wasn’t worth $10 to read this
i’m hoping the kdrama makes changes because even in episode 1 some stuff is different e.g. the way jae eun and nabi meet, nabi having an actual goal in life such as going to an exchange program in paris (she had no goals or ambitions in the webtoon), think jae eun is being portrayed as more flirty in the kdrama he was definitely a bit more chill in the webtoon but we’ll see lmao also seeing song kang play this character isn’t so bad but i’m not expecting much from the plot
I don't necessarily hate Jae-Eon but I don't love him either,he is a moraly gray character in my opinion. His change wasn't sudden, it just happened slowly that is almost unnoticeable. Na-Bi didn't do it for me, I think what I didn't like about her is the fact she knew Potato boy was in love with her and she gave him hope knowing damn well she couldn't just forget Jae-Eon. On the other hand, i understand why she kept Potato boy close but it wasn't fun to watch.
Jae-Eon and Na-Bi are good together, of course they aren't couple goals but they work.
