FP DELOS SANTOS RELEASES NEW SINGLE "NEW 20" TODAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH!

Singer-musician FP Delos Santos is set to release his new single titled "NEW 20" on September 5, 2023.

The song "NEW 20" is an electropop and dance-pop song with a strong house music influence, and it was written from a viewpoint of a 29-year-old. It is mainly about looking forward to what the current decade, the 2020s, can bring and how it is already the "future" of the Millenials. The song's lyrics also tell about nostalgia as well as references to the twenty Philippine peso denomination.

The B-side track, "caffeine addiction", is FP Delos Santos' debut single released way back December 12, 2022, and it is a house music song with chiptune influences that tells about excessive coffee consumption.

"NEW 20" is FP Delos Santos' debut physical single and second overall. It will be released in three formats: CD single (CD maxi single/single album), digital download, and streaming. The CD single includes four tracks: the two abovementioned songs and their respective instrumentals, while the digital release only includes the title song.

The single will be released on online music platforms like iTunes, Apple Music, Shazam, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, YouTube Music, Bugs!, and FLO per respective time zone. The CD single can be purchased on Shopee on the said release date.

FP Delos Santos is Filipino independent singer-musician, entertainer, and educator KM's music project formed in 2022, and he made his official debut on December 12, 2022 with the digital single "caffeine addiction". The project mainly focuses on interpreting and integrating the influences brought by 1990s house music and 2000s electropop into today's music.

Best/Worst Social Media This Week

The best thing I saw on social media this week came from Twitter and was the also one of the funniest things I saw all week. A big event that took place this week was the announcement that the new 20 dollar bill would include Harriet Tubman instead of Andrew Jackson. This is big news for two reasons, Tubman is not only the first woman on an American currency, and she is also the first African-American to appear on US currency. This is a substantial step in movements for social equality, and the internet knows that, therefore the meme storm began. The pictures below speak for themselves, and these memes plus videos and much more were circulating the internet not long after the announcement. This shows the speed at which new media can take and interpret news and current events, and then turn them into something that still gets the point across in a humorous way of expression.

The worst thing I saw on social media this week was a picture containing both Derrick Rose and Stephen Curry, two NBA players. Since the NBA playoffs are in full swing they are receiving a lot of attention, especially Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors who are the best team in the NBA (so far) this season. However, in the first round of the playoffs Curry, who is the MVP of the league, has been plagued with injuries that could potentially determine the outcome of their season. Although the injuries aren’t serious he is out for two weeks. A few years ago Derrick Rose was in a similar situation where he was the NBA’s MVP and was the star of the team with the best record at the end of the regular season. The following season, Rose tore his ACL and after a long anticipated return almost immediately tore his knee again upon his return. He hasn’t been the same player ever since his injuries, so the meme is implying the same is about to happen to Curry. I just don’t like the fact people can so easily wish harm and injury upon people that so many can look up to and at the end of the day the players sacrifice their bodies for the fans entertainment. We shame athletes through our media, but this is a way people choose to interact with the new media and expression their views, I just dislike the fact it is normally done at the expense of others.

I for one am pretty happy Harriet Tubman is gonna be on the 20

Aside from the obvious puns, "so I have a wallet full of 20s, guess who's free tonight?" 😏 Harriet Tubman was a Civil War veteran who repeatedly risked her life and freedom by returning to the south to free slaves received a war an officer's commission of $8, but was deemed too bad ass for such a low wage it was raised to $20. Also, in order to free her parents from slavery, she staged a sit in in order to raise the $20 she needed in order to free them. Now I know that some will call this a PC move and say what about the memory of Andrew Jackson, they might tell you about his presidency and war record. Which is impressive, the last time a foreign army was on US soil was the Battle of New Orleans in the war of 1812 against troops commanded by Andrew Jackson. He lead his troops to such a beat down of the invading force that no one's been back to try it again since. It is also true that Jackson did oversee one of the worst acts of genocide this country has ever perpetrated on the American Natives. He was also a white slave owner, his short comings aside one thing he was very much noted for was his hate of the idea of paper money and the creation of a Federal Reserve. In other words, one of the reasons why Jackson is on the 20 was sort of as a cruel twist of fate in that he would be the face of currency he would have despised in his life. So if you cannot enjoy the deliciousness that is one of the greatest abolitionists in American History replacing a white slave owner on the the face of our currency. Then enjoy the fact that Andrew Jackson would have been happy as hell to be off that bill.
