You made a city I know feel brand new,

The way time passed I found myself laughing in between the silence we shared,

You’re the newcomer,

And still you guided us as if you’ve done it all before,

That’s how you are with everything,

You’ve been countless places,

Experiencing life the way everyone should,

Unafraid of doing,

Seeking discomfort and seeing how it’ll go,

You live,

Knowing death will come to all,

So there’s never a reason to not do,

I looked into your eyes,

With the water in the distance,

Kissing the shore over and over again,

With the city lights behind us,

Flashing against your face and jaw as you smiled,

I didn’t know hazel was my favorite color,

And then I saw you face to face,

Looked into your eyes as you studied mine,

I don’t know what happens after this,

But that’s the beauty of it all,

You make today great,

Tomorrow to look forward to,

And yesterday as a stepping stone,

So let’s live,
