"you need to make several games before you make your dream game" is understandable to a certain extent if you use that in the context of "hey don't overwhelm yourself if you have no idea how to make games so you don't burn yourself out on learning when you make your dream project"
but also i see a lot of people use it in the context of "people won't want to play your dream game, or be invested in you, if you have never released a game before"
and honestly that's just not true anymore! we have seen several developers spend years on a passion project when they've never released an actual game before and they become pretty successful
i don't think anyone should make a game to be successful though anyway, first priority should be, do you like it? do you want to do the thing? okay then go do the thing!
yeah we live in a capitalistic society and who WOULDNT want to make cash from something you enjoy doing but make sure you enjoy doing it first!
it's why you shouldn't spend thousands of dollars on a vtuber model if you have never streamed a day in your life before,
dip your toes into it and see if you like it, and yeah, if you want to do this by creating your first video game As your dream game, then see how you work with it and if you find yourself hating or struggling every second and it doesn't feel worth it, try a different medium to release your ideas into the world!

Hello, Tumblr!
I decided to make an account dedicated to my experiences with game coding, design, and just development in general! Me and my partner are both working on a game about a murder in the 1800s (Story creds goes to my partner), and hope to publish it in 2026, but like I said, I'm still very new to everything. Feel free to send me asks, criticism or any tips you might have!
:3
I am on the brink of murder rn, I got so excited, I fucking thought I finally had a fix for the problem with mobile, but I've just made things worse... and I'm tired bugging the people on reddit with my problems
I'm gonna take a break and eat lunch
So guys.
I just learned how to make a 3d plat former game.
Unity Falling Behind
Not a good start to learning Unity. I fell behind this week with work interfering with my personal schedule. It is late Sunday night and it is on to the next lesson. Still trying to complete Survival Shooter tutorial from the Unity website. Also I hope my learning partner isn’t getting too disappointed with me. There will need to be some changes in my routine to better accomplish my learning path. My goal is to finish this tutorial this week!
