Jonsa and new leaks

Well, to stay a day away from tumblr and then getting new leaks is a funny experience….

As for now I’m withholding judgement. I was pissed about the leaks and the supposed Starkbowl in the first two episodes before I saw them. Since Starkbowl hasn’t happened at all, it is clear, that even rather accurate leaks can be very wrong if not put into the context of how the scenes are filmed. We still will have to see how the Jon/D@ny thing will play out.

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Jon and D@ny bang. It would fit all too well into the trope of unwittingly committed incest - which in literature has always severe repercussions.

I think that Jon’s parentage serves three purposes: 1. He has a claim on the IT and this will have an impact on the plot. - I don’t think it means that he’ll get the IT though. 2. It makes him related to D@ny thus pushing an actual lasting relationship out of the range of possible endings. - If you think this will end with Jon/D@ny on the Throne with magical Targcest babies, you haven’t been paying attention. 3. Jon’s parentage and the reveal make him a possible marriage candidate for his cousins who before that were out of range. - I think that GRRM will use all three to drive his plot.

Then there is the independence of the North. If the show makes Jon blunder considerably regarding the trust of his Bannermen it will take his hero status down a notch. The only hero who would remain would be D@ny. Since she is already on a dark path, I think it’s highly likely that the ultimate twist is the ‘betrayal for love’ and her becoming an antagonist. At the end of season 7 it may look like Jon€nerys have hooked up for good and that Jon will be on her side, but if D@ny sides against the Starks, Jon ’s heart will be in conflict with itself, and I have a very clear idea how he will decide.

So, I happily sail on the MS Jonsa and I will canonship them until the credits of season 8 episode 6 rolls. If they are not canon then, I’ll still have fancfics (about 2,500 by now, just on AO3!)

Just as an aside, if I were a Jon€nerys shipper I would not be pleased that during boat bang either the wall falls (not a good sign) or that it is rubbed in the audience’s face that Jon is banging his aunt by showing Rhaegar and Lyanna at the same time as well as Sam and Bran putting things together. Not after spending considerable time to tell others that Jon/D@ny is no incest because they don’t know they are related. Surprise there, it still is incest and the literal trope is that even unwittingly committed it will be punished. And I would be very disturbed that there is this rumour that they have no dialogue during boat bang.
