🔍 "Neurological studies on memory"
Psychologists have divided memory systems into two categories, which are then organized into subcategories. The two main categories are Declarative (Explicit) memory, which stores facts and events, and Non-Declarative (Implicit) memory, which includes associative learning skills such as muscle-memory and conditioning.
Memories are formed when neurons in the brain create connections, called synapses. These synapses create new circuits between nerve cells, essentially remapping the brain.
How Memories Form Around Events: Event segmentation is the theory that life events are stored in memories as individual, distinct moments. The neurological activity of brain cells showed the cognitive boundaries that mark the shift to a new "beginning" until the "end" of an event, which serves as a memory. (A "cognitive boundary" can be visualized as a science class shifting from the "Reproductive System" unit to the "Nervous System" unit, or as a football game that then shifts to commercial. There is a clear, "hard boundary" between the two contexts in which new information is being presented to you.)
Scientists have discovered two different types of brain cells that are triggered by events: Boundary Cells and Event Cells.
Boundary Cells: cells that become more active in response to new information, regardless of how it is presented.
Event Cells: cells that become more active in response to new information, particularly right after a new 'cognitive boundary', or a change in context.
Cool New Study on Memory and Trauma: Glutamate is a crucial chemical in the brain that facilitates the signals between neurons. Scientists have discovered that when exposed to traumatic events, the receptors for glutamate in the brain are more heavily concentrated in the amygdala area, which is associated with the brain's fear response. When the receptors in the synapses in the amygdala increase, the brain encodes fear in association with the traumatic memory. Scientists are trying to find a treatment for PTSD and other debilitating trauma responses by targeting the glutamate receptors in the amygdala.

New to #Studyblr ? Don’t worry, I got ya back !
So today I got two messages from two students who are eager to join this community, but doesn’t know how this all works. Since everyday the number of studyblrs is growing, I decided to help & make a post about how to be a Studyblr.
1. Click that ‘+’ button !
At the very beginning, I followed practically everything & everyone on my Tumblr. It made my Dashboard look very weird. From fitspo to funny memes, you name it, it was that funny. But when I decided that I do not want to have a Tumblr blog about random things I chose to turn it to a Studyblr.
I unfollowed everyone, and started following only the once who are Studyblr related.
And today my Dashborad looks pretty amazing & inspiring too, thanks to these awesome studyblrs !
2. Reblog posts ! ‘Cause sharing is caring
I do LOVE to reblog posts. Simply when I find an amazing image related to studying, or taking notes I reblog immediately ! Because it amazes me how one picture can motivate me to go and study. Or it inspires me to, for example write notes like that & such. Reblog so that every studyblr can see it & gets motivated. The more you reblog, the better it gets !
3. Yes, you can ! Tumblr is great because, you can not only share others posts, but it gives you the opportunity to share your OWN post. Post a pick of your own study desk, or your notes. Don’t forget to add tags ! I mean it’s not necessary but the more tags you add the more followers you’ll gain. Add some like: studyblr, study desk, study hard, studying, study motivation, etc.
Inspirational quotes do work as well ! They are clever & very inspiring.
Or, yes it gets better, share your ideas with us ! Example: your study tips, or your pencil essentials, maybe your study, or morning/after school routine. Anything that invades your cute head ! (and also here add some tags). What I think the best thing to do is to make a post about you joining the Studyblr community. I’m sure that many studyblrs will notice you & will quickly start following.
To be a Studyblr isn’t hard. Some use it to inspire others, other to inspire them self by posting only their own posts. Personalize yourblog how your heart desires !
Who said that studying can be boring ? (okay I lied there, sometimes it is..) Go on and show us how productive you can be. What’s your fave subject or book. Maybe impress us with your handwriting, & also try a challenge & show us how you’re dealing with it. Have you make it or not.
This post is also dedicated to our new studyblrs: @speakbook and @studyandstaypositive ! *Gives you a huge welcome hug*
Here’s to new awesome studyblrs ! Get excited to be productive !
