Alabama town's first Black mayor takes office after three-year legal battle

This is big. It's an 80% black town where the white minority illegally just kept appointing each other to government for nearly sixty years to prevent the black residents from having the right to vote or any say in government.

Mr. Braxton filed and won an election four years ago, but they refused to let him in the building or have any of the power or paperwork because they considered democracy to be illegitimate.

Democracy has reached this town in Alabama for the first time right now in 2024.
