This year’s Bloomberg New Contemporaries launched in Nottingham across artist-led spaces Backlit, One Thoresby Street and Primary, and is supported by an additional programme of events at Nottingham Contemporary, New Art Exchange and Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery.
Selected artists for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2015 are:

Kanad Chakrabarti, James William Collins, Andrei Costache, Julia Curtin, Abri de Swardt, Melanie Eckersley, Jamie Fitzpatrick, Justin Fitzpatrick, Hannah Ford, Sophie Giller, Richard Hards, Juntae T.J.Hwang, Jasmine Johnson, Tomomi Koseki, Hilde Krohn Huse, Pandora Lavender, Jin Han Lee, Hugo López Ayuso, Beatrice-Lily Lorigan, Scott Lyman, Hanqing Ma & Mona Yoo, Scott Mason, Oliver McConnie, Mandy Niewöhner, Hamish Pearch, Neal Rock, Conor Rogers, Katie Schwab, Tim Simmons, David Cyrus Smith, Francisco Sousa Lobo, Aaron Wells, Morgan Wills and Andrea Zucchini.
The exhibition will tour to the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London from 24 November 2015 to 24 January 2016.

Looking for a behind the scenes overview of the exhibition? Every Saturday at 2pm during Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2015, an invited artist or curator will offer a free tour of the exhibition at the hosting venues.
24 October: curator Polly Brannan (Education Curator at Liverpool Biennial) will be hosting a tour at Backlit.
31 October: artist Craig Fisher (Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University) will be hosting a tour at Primary.

Peer Mentoring for Artists

Would you like to be part of an Peer Artist network? Backlit will host a practical workshop which explores the many different formats and benefits of Peer Mentoring for Artists that supports and encourages a sustainable practice. In this presentation artist Chloe Cooper talks about her own extensive experiences of peer mentoring, suggesting strategies and approaches to establishing a group and the benefits and challenges that come with it. Session organised by Artquest, a programme of University of Arts London (UAL). Includes free food and drinks for all participants!

The Shy Convention by Gillian Wearing

Gillian Wearing and Backlit will be hosting an afternoon of creative sessions exploring confidence, writing, music and language leading to an evening of audience-led personal karaoke.
Creative Sessions for Shy People
The Shy Convention will start from 3pm with a small group of participants who will attend two FREE creative sessions; one exploring confidence building with professional personal development coach Isabel Mortimer, and the other creative writing, led by the Mouthy Poets collective with the theme of “LOVE” set by Gillian. The objective is to prepare a personal piece of writing to perform later that evening as part of the ‘personal karaoke’ experience. If you consider yourself 'shy’ and would like to attend the creative session you can apply here. Last remaining places available!
Performance Event / Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2015 Closing Party
Join us for an evening of 'personal karaoke’ performances with Shy Convention participants. There will be an opportunity for those that haven’t attended the afternoon sessions to perform a 'personal karaoke’ of their own, by creating a piece of writing and submitting their entry for public performance later that evening. The Shy Convention will be a celebration marking the closing party to the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2015 exhibition. Free food and a bar will be available on the night. Halloween Costumes Welcome!
