modesty..

OK.. So this past friday my fiance' Kaiden and I went to shul for the first time. It is a Reform shul and everyone was mostly warm and kind to us. We sat in the back and followed along as best as we could (considering we know ZERO Hebrew). We had a really nice time and afterwards we left feeling very relieved that we finally got the courage to go. That was just a follow up.. Now for the reason I am writing this.

Modesty,.. I feel like it is a very important part of all things. I wear a tichel in my everyday life. I feel that keeping my hair covered is a very good way to honor my soon to be husband. For those of you who don't know, a tichel is a scarf that women tie around their head to keep modest. I feel it is NOT an oppression but, a liberation of serving my god and my fiance'. I noticed that no one there was wearing one.. I know that most Reform do not wear a tichel or observe the same modesty as say, Conservative or Orthodoxy. I have to say that was the only thing that I was let down about. I know that we all worship differently and this is how I personally choose to observe. I don't know if I will wear one at this shul mainly because, we are already the odd ones out. I don't want to feel more awkward.. It's a conundrum. Anyway.. I am done for now..
