Newly Loc’d Tag
Q: What made you start your locs?
A: I never liked getting my hair done. Braids took forever and were expensive. I wanted a hairstyle I could maintain myself. When my mom started her locs, I saw how easy and economical it was and wanted the same. Best decision I have ever made in regards to my hair.
Q: When did you start your locs?
A: March 2015 while studying abroad at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Q: What is the most challenging part about having locs?
A: Exercising patience while my hair grows to a length where I can put into a pony tail/bun (I don't like hair in my face).
Q: Loc goals?
A: Having healthy locs (health over length).
Q: Loc crush?
A: Linea Johnson aka @locsofpoetry. Not only does she have healthy locs, but her consciousness and use of her platform to empower black people is inspiring.
Q: Loc routine?
A: I wash with Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap followed by a hot oil treatment. I don't use conditioner. When my hair feels dry, I spray it with a mixture of water, olive oil, and essential lavender oil. I retwist once a month with aloe vera gel.
I am looking forward to many years with my locs.
