Newt: "Yeah, yeah, we all wanna fuck the Brundlefly."
Hermann: "I do not want to fuck the Brundlefly."
Newt: "Oh, I think after a few more drifts with me, you will."

When Hermann and Newt get into a relationship, Hermann will absolutely put his hands on Newt's li'l cheekies and smush them gently when Newt starts getting excited to the point of incoherent babbling.
Newt gets a pet bearded dragon and he's super excited about this because they're so COOL Hermann! And Hermann is just all grumpy about it and like 'whatever you childish man i do not care for it' BUT THEN one day Newt comes home early and finds Hermann scratching the dragon's belly and being all soft, whispering things like 'who's adorable? YOU'RE adorable' and 'look at your little feet and your little tail and your little beard, oh yes you are gorgeous, you are!' in a stupid voice. So naturally Newt completely rubbs it in his face and calls him a big softie, but also his eyes are watering because of how much he loves Hermann.
Honestly I like the idea of Newt telling silly jokes and Hermann only being able to suppress his laughter for about thirty seconds or so before he starts laughing wildly because he’s just so in love with his little fella.
Hermann sees a funny-looking little fish anywhere and he is immediately reminded of Newt.
Hermann, who grew up watching Doctor Who and Star Trek, thinks that Newt is weird for liking tokusatsu films. Finally, Newt asks Hermann to explain the actual difference between most kaiju movies and like half the plots of Doctor Who. Hermann, who is really being very emotional about this, retorts “The monsters in Doctor Who aren’t gigantic!” And Newt points out that kaiju aren’t always gigantic, either. The word “kaiju” just means “weird creature.” It’s used the same way we use the word “monster” when we say “monster movies.” And he also points out that Doctor Who HAS had gigantic creatures, like the star whale, Kroll, the Skarasen, and that one freakin’ massive T-rex, and the egg moon, and the giant spiders... Hermann pretty much freezes up as he realizes that Newt is completely right and he’s been kind of a dickweed this whole time. And he realizes that he’s been unfair to himself, too, because he could have been liking things and having fun, but instead he’s just been dismissing them, and in doing so he turned them into an unnecessary point of contention that’s also hurt him. He apologizes to Newt, and that evening the pair of them settle down to watch a Mothra movie together. Or maybe Matango.
I can very easily imagine Newt Geiszler listening to this song on repeat after his first in-person meeting with Hermann Gottlieb went disastrously.
Consider: Hermann Gottlieb hasn’t failed to ask Newt out because he’s a mega snob or something; he hasn’t done it because he’s genuinely terrified that if he fucks it up in the tiniest way, Newt will hate him forever and will never speak to him again. At least in their present state of hostility (so Hermann believes), Newt won’t actually expect better from him, and so he won’t hold his fuckups against him.
