Well, Inferno has basically started, as Magneto finds out after he flies to New York and gets attacked by a possessed fire escape. I like how he doesn’t really think twice about it. He just transforms into that killer white suit and heads on into the Hellfire Club. As if this shit happens to him every day. God damn it my life is so boring. (New Mutants #70 – Dec 1988)
Lila Cheney, a fun, Dazzler-esque, teleportation based character and Sam’s girlfriend who we really haven’t spent too much time with, buys the farm right here after teleporting these planet eating space slugs to the surface of the sun. Not a bad way to go. Hey this means Sam’s single!! Go get him Rahne!! Btw there's no way they would see those insects exploding on the sun unless the sun was right god damned next to the planet in which case everyone's faces would be melting off. This is the final issue of the Prelude to Inferno omnibus, excluding some bonus material at the end of the book, and it’s the final issue before we start Inferno proper. I haven’t been doing any reviews for these books as I’ve been going, but I plan on doing a big review for everything after I finish Inferno that covers everything I’ve read since the first issue of X-Factor. This, in my mind, encapsulates Jean Grey’s resurrection and all of the consequences that were caused by that event. (New Mutants #70 – Dec 1988) Happy holidays 1988!!!
From here we’re heading straight into Inferno. The demon realm of Limbo has been threatening to burst and spill into our dimension for ages now, and we’ve all been procrastinating our ASSES off about dealing with it. You guys should have taken care of this problem ages ago!! See, this is basically what it looks like underneath my refrigerator since I haven’t cleaned under there since I bought my house 15 years ago. When I look under there, I can see eyeballs staring back at me. There's a scorching case of conflagration going on under there. (New Mutants #70 – Dec 1988)
Because the New Mutants are a real hot mess, this glue-sniffing space spider’s plan of universal domination goes up in a puff smoke. Not going to lie, this story was boooring and may be my least favorite arc I've read so far for this blog. (New Mutants #70 – Dec 1988)
