Resorts World Manila’s October Fiesta Features Month-Long Celebration of Local Craft Beers

Resorts World Manila is giving the annual October beer festival a Filipino twist as it launched its October Fiesta at the Newport Mall featuring over 300 local craft beers. The event is a partnership between RWM and the Philippine Craft Beer Community and local brewers who all give pride to the country.

The RWM October Fiesta was held last October 4-5, 2019 at The Plaza on the second floor of Newport Mall and The Hungry Kat was one of the first guests to arrive at this grand beer festival. The event was open to the public and tickets were sold at the entrance. Guests can get the P400 ticket which includes 2 beer samples and a souvenir Pilsner glass, or the P1000 ticket inclusive of 5 RWM bar chows, 3 local craft beers, and one raffle coupon.

The festivities started as early as 4:00pm and lasted all the way past midnight. Filipinos have long observed the German tradition for years by celebrating food feasts matched with beers and music. This time, RWM continues the tradition while pushing its advocacy to champion Filipino producers by showcasing local craft beer brands that are brewed locally and offer delicious flavors that go well with October festival bar chows.

Over 30 local brewers were featured during the two-day event with their various local craft beers. Among the brewers were Engkanto, Joe’s Brews, Pedro Brewcrafters, Beer Bros Craft Brewing, Cerveza Palanyag, Crazy Carabo Brewing, Crows Craft Brewing, Ibalon Craft Brew, and more. These brands featured various kinds of beers including lager, wheat ale, pale ale, IPA, neipa, porter, and stout. Pinoy flavors were also present including mango, citrus, grapefruits, coffee, caramel, and chocolate.

RWM October Fiesta gives its guests a different beer-drinking experience as it lets them taste and savour different local craft brands all in one festive place. Each beer has its own unique qualities with distinct flavors and aromas. Their cheeky designs are also very attractive which connotes their own personalities and lifestyles. There was even a chili-flavored beer that was really one-of-a-kind.

Guests also enjoyed craft beer appetizer pairings which are available at various RWM restaurants including Franks Pinoy Hotdogs, Silogue Pinoy Fiesta Ham, and Bolahan streetfood platters. Other RWM hotel affiliates like Sheraton Manila, Hilton Manila, and Marriott Manila also offered their bar chows.

Of course, no fiesta is complete without music and games for everyone to enjoy. Paulo Santos brought his repertoire of classic hits including Moonlight Over Paris and other ballads.

A card magician also played some amazing tricks to lucky guests. I still don’t know how he pulled off his magic tricks right in front of us. Raffle prizes were also given away during the afternoon.

Then there was the traditional beer-drinking contest where the fastest beer drinking got to take home fabulous prizes and merchandise from Resorts World Manila.

But the party is not yet over as Resorts World Manila continues to celebrate the annual revelry with more beer and appetizer matches available the whole month of October at the Newport Mall. These include Johnny Kahuku Hawaiian Shrimphouse’s Crispy Drunken Shrimps; Crustasia Asian Seafood Market’s Crispy Pork Knuckles; Lumu Filipino Kitchen’s Beer-battered Fried Chicken; Chiara’s Beer-flavored Sorbet and Zuppa Inglese infused with Alkermes Liquor Syrup; Shrimp Bucket’s Beer-battered Fish and Fritts; and Mr. Kurosawa’s Beer-battered Fish and Chips. 

Music fans can enjoy October Fiesta at El Calle Food and Music Hall which also serves a great beer match via Bolahan’s streetfood platter, a selection of beers, wines, and spirits, and some of the top acoustic acts in the metro today. Savoy Hotel Manila also offers their Beer Pork Knuckles, Beer-infused Osso Bucco con Gremalota, Beer Marinated Schnitzel, Beer Pretzel, and Beer & Mustard Sauerkraut to celebrate the season. 

Aside from Newport Mall’s Octobrew Grubs, more thrilling promos await guests at RWM this October including Hilton Manila's Rugby World Cup 2019 LIVE at Port Bar, Sheraton Manila Hotel's Community Hour at The Lounge, and October Fiesta promos from Silogue, the Grand Bar and Lounge, and Holiday Inn Express in partnership with El Calle Food and Music Hall.  This is their way of celebrating the German tradition with that distinct Filipino touch that makes it more homely and comfortably familiar.
