Pt2

You dragged your case into the Hufflepuff Head girl dorm room, followed closely by your friend and your cat, who jumped up onto the bed, clearly claiming it as his own.

“You’ll be sleeping on the floor then.” Your friend joked and you turned to smile at her. 

“Yeah I guess so, you know Badger, he always chooses the best spot. He really is a spoilt cat.” You look over at him affectionately and laugh at his strange behaviour. He had dragged one of the pillows down towards the middle of the bed with his mouth, before kneading it into a suitable position and lying down to nap. 

You began unpacking your belongings, prepared to transform your new room into your own. You hung up a Hufflepuff flag and a small poster of a badger, before putting up your favourite Fantastic Beasts calander, which exhibited a new extraordinary creature each month. 

It was your dream to work with animals since you were a young girl and your ambition only increased after attending Hogwarts and learning about the amazing creatures that were within the Wizarding world. 

You then began unloading your uniform and placing your books on the shelf, making sure that your favourite book ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them’ by Newt Scamander was sitting proudly on top. 

You stood back and admired your handywork, officially feeling at home. 

“I can’t believe you got selected as Head Girl!” Your friend exclaims as you make your way back down to the new Head boy/girl common room. “Well I mean I can, you are the best in our house, but still it’s exciting isn’t it?” 

You look over at her “It’s a lot of responsibility that’s what it is.” and then smile “But yes, it’s most definitely exciting.” 

You sit beside Hermione Granger, who was the Head girl for Gryffindor and introduce yourself and your friend. She was really easy to get along with, and you were glad you would have someone to talk to within your new facility. That was the only downside of being Head Girl, although it was awesome to have your own spacious room, with a double bed and personal bathroom, it was bound to get lonely. 

You were exhausted after your first official day back and had a tonne of homework to get on with, towards your upcoming N.E.W.T.S. You decided to head straight back to the common room after your final lesson to begin working on the homework you had been set for every lesson! 

You sat beside the fire and after hours of working, you began to stare into the distance, your eyes lading on an intricate frame hanging on the opposite wall. Your interest was instantly peeked after noticing the carvings within the gold painted frame. You walked over to it for a closer look and was taken back after noticing the carvings formed the shape of several animals, which were written about within your ‘Fantastic Beasts’ book, such as a niffler, Occamy, Bowtruckle and Thunderbird. It was the most amazing frame you had ever seen and would look amazing in your room, added to your collection of Fantastic Beast related items. 

However, you knew the frame must belong to someone’s portrait, even if they were away for the moment. Therefore, you decided to leave it there and wait to see who’s portrait ended up in such an amazing frame. 

After the first few weeks back there was still no sign of the person in the portrait and you even had Hermione on the look out, but to your luck the frame was empty, which meant you felt okay about taking it. 

You hung it on the wall to the side of your bed and smiled contently towards it. You thought about hanging a mirror inside it and decided to look out for one the next time you were in Hogsmede. 

It was a few days later and you had managed to purchase a mirror for your new frame. You hung it up and admired how amazing and unique the mirror looked. You sighed in satisfaction and exhausted after having to carry the mirror back from Hogsmede, collapsed onto your bed and drifted into a deep sleep. 

There was a strange noise that had awoken you and you could have sworn you heard a voice calling out in confusion. After deciding that you had probably imagined it in your sleepy state, you tried to fall back to sleep, but instantly bolted upright after hearing a distinct male voice. You grabbed your wand and pointed it at the door, not sure how a boy had managed to get up to your room without setting off the slide trap. 

You crawled out of bed and edged towards the door with your wand raised. You flung the door open and peered out into the spiral staircase, except no one was outside. 

You closed the door and peered around your room, in case the person had already creeped inside “Lumos.” Your wand instantly lit up the room, but it was empty. You headed back towards the bed, confused, but decided once again it must have been because you were sleep deprived. 

As you edged around the side of the bed you heard a rustle behind you. You spun around and screamed. It was just your refection in the mirror. You laughed at your own stupidity and amongst your giggles you heard the voice loud and clear “Excuse me miss, I think someone has blocked my portrait.” You squealed in shock, before realising where the voice was coming from.  

You reached towards the mirror and pulled it out of the frame, bringing you face to face with the most gorgeous man you had ever seen. 

He had long dirty blonde hair with ginger hints, green or blue eyes (it was difficult to tell) and freckles.

He smiled awkwardly at you and you decided that he couldn’t be older than 25. 

“Why has my portrait been moved?” He asked suddenly, bringing you out of your daze. 

“Oh err... I’m really sorry... You see I thought this frame was empty because you never appeared and I really liked it, so I thought it would be okay to move into my dorm, considering how it wasn’t being used... except clearly it is...” Your voice trailed off and your face was blushing a bright shade of red. You were so embarrassed. 

He stuttered slightly, clearly not knowing how to react “Err... right... okay.” 

“I’m really sorry.” You repeated, looking at the floor, not knowing what to do.

“Oh, do you like animals too?” The man asked suddenly and you looked up in shock, as he gestured over towards your calander.

“Oh It’s more than like. I love them! It’s my dream to work with magnificent animals, just like the ones in my favourite book.”

The man smiles at your reaction, intrigued at your fascination with animals “Which book are you referring too?” He asks and you pull it down delicately from the shelf.

“’Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’  by Newt Scamander. I wish I could’ve met him and thanked him for all he did for these amazing animals. 

The man in the portrait smirks at you “Well why don’t you then?” He asks and you sigh. 

“Well I can’t, because, well he’s dead.” He nods knowingly before saying “Well it may not be how you wanted to tell him, but you still can.” 

You look at him questioningly and he smiles gently “Hi I’m Newt Scamander.”

Newt was standing in front of you, a look of sheer confusion and shock on his face “Is this real? Am I real?” He asks and you carefully approach him, worried that the spell might break. 

You close your eyes in fear and reach your hand towards him, which collides with his firm chest. Your eyes automatically open in shock and you look down to see your hand positioned on his chest, which slowly glides along his neck and eventually cups his cheek. His warm and fleshy cheek. 

You could’t believe it. The spell actually worked. 

A tear escapes from your eye and you smile up at Newt, which he returns by pulling you forward and planting a firm kiss on your lips. 

After the shock of the kiss, you pull him closer, wrapping your arms around his neck and deepening the kiss. 

You eventually pull back and notice the deep blush forming on Newts cheeks, clearly embarrassed at his forward behaviour.

“I can’t believe you’re really here!” You suddenly say and once more look him over in his blue coat and yellow waistcoat, he looked too damn cute. 

You pull him over to the bed and you sit beside each other. 

“How long do you think the spell will last?” He asks anxiously. 

You pull the book over to you and examine the page “I honestly have no Idea, it doesn’t say. I wasn’t even sure if it would work, but I had to try.”

He nods understandingly and you automatically begin to feel guilty that you hadn’t asked for his permission first “You’re okay with this right? I’ll try and find a way to reverse it if you’re not.” 

He reaches out and takes your hands in his “Of course this is okay! For the past few weeks this is the only thing I’ve wanted- to be with you, to have this physical connection.” 

You glance into his beautiful eyes and begin to feel yourself get lost in them. 

He edges towards you nervously and you close your eyes, waiting for the sweet sensation of his kiss. 

When your lips finally connects your body instantly heats up in a passionate desire. 

You couldn’t help yourself, but after finally feeling Newts touch and not knowing how long you had together, you began to crave more. 

You shifted towards him and placed yourself onto his lap, straddling him on the bed. 

You pushed him down aggressively and your heart melts at the sound of his groans. Damn he was hot. 

You spent the night in each others embrace, showing each other over and over again just how much you loved one another. 

The next morning you walk down to the common room with Newt in tow. You walked towards the fire, where you had planned to meet your friend and was happy to see that she was already there, intensely looking over a book. 

She senses your presence, but doesn’t bother to look up “Hey Y/N, I still haven’t found anything to release portraits-” 

You cut her off before she can finish “No need, I managed to do it...” 

She looks up suddenly, not sure if she heard correctly and her eyes widen at the sight of Newt standing beside you, holding your hand “Oh Merlin!” 

You both sit beside her and you rest your head on his shoulder lovingly “I can’t believe you managed to do it!” She says, still staring at you “It must have been the power of love!” 

You and Newt both laugh at her response and look into each others eyes affectionately “Yeah it must have been.”

Newts POV

Alby called a meeting, which included the whole of the glade- except for Y/N and Shelly, as the meeting was to address them.

Alby explained the whole scenario, as well as both Y/N and Shelly's side of the story, which resulted in a huge debate. The majority of the gladers sided with Y/N, as she had been here longer and nothing this severe had ever happened before. But the odd few defended Shelly, because of the scene Y/N caused at the bonfire or because they had a crush on her, so didn't want to listen to reason. You could tell Alby was fed up with the endless bickering so he spoke up, instantly silencing everyone "the matter is never going to be resolved like this, we need some sort of proof, otherwise the wrong person may end up being punished"

Until now Chuck hadn't voiced his opinion, which was strange seeing how much he cares for Y/N.

You watch as he steps forward and let's out an awkward cough to gain the attention of the gladers. He looks to the ground, as if he is afraid or ashamed at what he is about to say "Y/N is telling the truth. I saw the whole thing"

You are taken aback by his remark, confused and angry at why he didn't tell you what happened last night, when Y/N was trapped in the maze "Chuck, if what you're saying is true, why didn't you tell me beforehand?" He looks up at you, you can see the desperation in his eyes, instantly making you back down.

"When I was out looking for Y/N I found her, but she was on the ground, arguing with Shelly. I watched as Shelly dragged her into the maze and beat her, leaving her there to die. I ran over to help Y/N but by the time I got there it was too late and the doors to the maze closed. I confronted Shelly, but she held a knife to my throat threatening to kill me the same way she did Y/N" A tear leaks down his cheek and he wipes it away, determined to stay strong. "I thought there would be no way that Y/N would survive in the maze, otherwise i would've fought for her until the end"

You stride over to chuck and rest a hand on his shoulder to let him know you were okay with what he did. You could tell how difficult it must have been for him to decide what to do being in this predicament. He looks up at you, a grateful smile on his face.

"How do we know he's not just making this up to clear Y/N name?" Gally intervenes, causing you to roll your eyes. A few of the gladers nod in approval at his statement.

Alby steps up, an idea forming in his mind "both Y/N and Shelly told me a story of what happened that night, in which none of you- other than me and Newt have heard the full account of. Now I'll ask Chuck to give a detailed description of the event, including the actions and words spoken by both girls and whichever story it matches up to, we will know who is telling the truth."

Alby receives a variety of nods and cheers of approval, before Chuck goes on to give a detailed account of that dreaded night- which just so happened to perfectly match up to Y/N.

Newts POV

You sit outside of the maze doors all night, waiting and praying for them to open. Chuck came to sit with you for a while, simply to keep you company, you knew he didn’t have hope that Y/N was alive. No one else in the glade did either. They were all acting as if she was dead already. But she can’t be. You promised you would take care of her the day she arrived in the maze and it will kill you to know that you had broken that promise- even though you already knew that you had when you let Shelly get between the two of you.

You watch as the sun begins to rise in the distance, the anticipation of it all putting a tight strain on your heart. Your whole mouth goes dry and you struggle to breathe.

You stand up when you hear the movement of the cogs within the door and when they begin to part, you take in a deep breathe. “This is it” you think to yourself. This is the part where you find out if the one you love is still alive… or if she has been lost to the Maze.

Readers POV 

You automatically sit up when you hear the cogs in the doors begin to turn. This is it. You are finally free from the imprisonment of the maze. You get up and stand at the entrance, waiting in anticipation for the doors to slowly begin to open.

You try to peer down the small gap forming between the doors and you notice a small figure waiting at the other end. Newt.

You cry at the sight of him standing there waiting for you return. As soon as the doors are open wide enough you run to him, not caring about the ache in your leg or the burning in your lungs “Newt!” You call out to him, a flood of tears streaming down your face.

He stands there, disbelief plastered over his face. You watch as it morphs into a look of relief and then of complete love. He runs out towards you, meeting you in the centre of the doors. You intertwine with each other, as he pulls you into a tight hug, holding you close.

You both collapse onto the ground, your shaky legs unable to hold you up and you throw yourself onto him joining his lips to yours. The kiss is passionate and loving but also fueled with hunger and desire. Your tears merge together and you both pull back to get some air. Newt pulls you back into another embrace and whispers into your ear. You can hear the pain and regret in his voice “I can’t believe you’re alive! I’m so sorry for what I did love, you’re the only person I want to be with, I love you Y/N”

You look up at him and stare lovingly into his eyes, letting him know you’ve forgiven him and everything bad that had past between you is forgotten “I love you too Newt”

Newt carries you back to the Med Hut, everyone in the glade trying to crowd around you and bombard you with questions. “Everyone back off and give her some space!” Newt calls out for the whole crowd to hear. You watch as they all obey the orders of their second in command and trail away, looking lost and defeated.

Newt sat with you the whole time you were getting your wounds treated, a worried look on his face, but whenever he noticed you staring at him he would smile down at you and place a kiss on the top of your head.

Once you were taken care of, Alby came in to see how you were doing and ask you about what happened in the maze and how it was you ended up there. You told him the story of how you planned to go in there, before changing your mind, trying to ignore the pained look on Newts face. You continue with your statement and go on to tell them about how Shelly attacked you and left you for dead within the maze, which Alby only nodded his head to, but you could see the fury within Newts eyes. You then went on to explain how you survived in the maze and how you killed the griever, as well as a detailed description on what they looked like- the memory of it making your skin crawl. Once You had told them everything Alby told you to rest and summoned Newt outside to speak with him “I’ll only be a minute love” Newt assured you before he steps out of the room.

You lay back down in the comfort of the bed and close your eyes, allowing your exhaustion to take over and be consumed by darkness.

Readers POV

I placed my hand against the door of the maze "I'll never see Newt again" you whisper to yourself "I'll never get to tell him how much I love him" you felt the tears forming in your eyes waiting to be unleashed, but you manage to hold them back, the deathly screams of the grievers pulling you back to reality. You consider your options. You can either stay here and wait for the grievers to take you away or you can make your way into the maze and out of pure look, be the first person to survive a night in the maze.

The sound of the grievers growing closer instantly made you decide on your plan of action and run forward into the depths of the maze, never looking back. You made a mental note of each corner you took, trying to look out for things that stood out, ensuring you had a route planned to take you back to the entrance. At every turn you glanced around, making sure the coast was clear and you weren't running straight into one of the grievers. At the next corner you decided to take it slow, a hollow feeling within the pit of your stomach, warning you that danger was ahead. You look around the corner and cover your own mouth to stop yourself from screaming. It was the first time you have ever seen a griever, the only other people to have seen them have ended up dead, you just pray that you will not be one of them. The creature was even worse than you had pictured, with a slimy body and metal legs- half animal, half machine. You slowly back away from the corner and begin to head in a different direction, but the griever must have sensed you, following along your trail. You hear it catching up with you, you weren't fast enough to out run it so you take shelter under the large vines and lie down with your back against the wall. As the griever approaches, you hold your breathe and stay as still as possible, not wanting to give away your position. You were afraid the creature may hear the loud beating of your heart, so place your hand against your chest, as if it will help calm it down. The griever crawls past you, unaware of you hiding just 5 feet away. You watch as the griever fades out of sight and you finally let out a deep breathe, panting for air. Just a few more hours to go until morning and you will finally be out of the maze. But that also means that there are still a few more hours for the griever to catch you and for it to tear you apart.

Newts POV

You thoroughly searched your side of the glade three times over, but there was still no sign of Y/N. So you decide to head back to find Chuck and pray that Y/N is safely back with him. As you are making your way over towards the centre of the glade you spot Shelly running back from towards the entrance of the maze, tears streaming down her face. When she reaches you she collapses in your arms. You wrap your arms around her to help Keep her balanced, when you feel a wet sticky substance, tricking down her arms. Shelly was covered in blood.

You shouted for the med jacks and watch as she is taken away to the med Hut. You hear her call your name, so you follow her in and watch as Winston treats her wounds. She had cuts all over her arms and a hands, but thankfully none of them were too deep. Once she had been seen to, Alby barges in demanding to find out what happened. Shelly sits up in the bed and looks over at you helplessly, but you nod for her to tell you both what had happened.

She lets out a small sob and tears begin to flow down her cheeks "Y/N attacked me as I was taking a stroll through the field" you shift uncomfortably in your seat, a thousand questions running through your mind. Not knowing whether she was lying or telling he truth, you wait for her to continue.

"She came up to me and held out a knife saying how she warned me to keep away from Newt, as he belonged to her. I tried to keep her calm by talking to her but she slashed at my hands and wrists so I ran. She tackled me to the ground and dragged me into the maze, holding the knife against my throat. When she pushed me to the ground I noticed a large rock beside me so I threw dirt in her eyes and hit her over the head with the rock. She passed out so I went to call for someone to help me carry her out of the maze, I didn't want to just leave her in there, but when I had gotten out, the doors had already began to close."

You grind your teeth "so you're telling me Y/N is passed out in the maze?" Shelly nodded her head and began to weep again, apologising to you. You cut her off, not wanting to listen to anything else she had to say "save it! I don't want to hear it" You storm out of the room and head straight to the doors of the maze, anger building up inside of you. "There's no way Y/N would've done that! She's never been a violent person. Shelly has to be lying!" You think to yourself. Once you get to the doors you rest your hand against it, picturing Y/N trapped on the other side. That's when the realisation of what's just happened hits you. It doesn't matter whether Shelly was telling the true or not. The truth is Y/N, the girl that you love, is trapped within the maze and no one ever survives a night in the maze.
