Through It All: A Sonamy Story - Chapter 6: "A Rose in Hiding"
Sonic sat in his room, pen in hand, and stared at the blank page in his notebook. He sighed, tapping the pen against his chin. He couldn't seem to focus on anything but Amy lately. He couldn't stop thinking about her, and his mind was always wandering off to thoughts of her. He knew just the thoughts going through his head. As Sonic absentmindedly sketched, the images on the page seemed to take on a life of their own, weaving together effortlessly to form a delicate rose. Before he knew it, he had filled the page with various sketches and drawings, all of which connected to make a rose. Sonic blinked, surprised at his own handiwork. He had no idea how it all miraculously fit together. He smiled, feeling his cheeks heat up a little.
Meanwhile, in another part of town, Amy was going about her usual routine. She walked down the street, lost in thought, and absentmindedly twirling a strand of hair around her finger. She had been feeling conflicted lately, and it was starting to show. Sonic was acting a bit strange around her lately. It felt off to her. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was going on, but she didn't know what it was. She had accepted that he was annoyed by her advances, and then Sonic started acting odd? She felt these two events must be connected. Amy let out a deep sigh, pulling herself out of her thoughts. She couldn't keep feeling like this, she needed to focus on something else. She took out a small notebook from her bag, flipping through the pages until she landed on one that caught her attention. It was filled with scribbles and random sentences, but there was one in particular that stood out to her.
"I'm not going to let myself be defined by this immature crush. Sonic deserves better than me. He deserves the person who makes him happy, not the one who annoys him to the degree I do. We might be friends. We are friends, and I hope it stays that way. But we’ll never be anything more."
She paused, staring at the sentences as if they would reveal some hidden truth to her. These were the words that refocused her life. These words were true to her, but somehow, they were starting to seem more and more wrong. Sonic's oddness was oddly familiar - it felt like the crush she had on Sonic in the old days. "Don't let yourself get caught up in a spiral. We're just friends. Just friends."
Amy closed the notebook, taking a deep breath. She knew that she needed to push these thoughts aside and focus on something else. She looked around at her surroundings and noticed that she had arrived at the park. It was a beautiful day outside, with the sun shining and a cool breeze blowing through the trees. Amy smiled, feeling her spirits lift a little. She decided to take a walk through the park and clear her mind. Amy strolled through the tranquil park, her steps light and deliberate. The scent of blooming flowers filled the air, mingling with the gentle rustle of leaves. She found solace in the quietude, allowing the natural beauty to envelop her, inviting introspection and a respite from her swirling thoughts. She took in the scenery, feeling the grass beneath her feet and the breeze blowing through her hair. The park was relatively empty, with only a few people scattered around. It was the perfect place to relax and let go of her worries. She let her mind rest and catch up. The park was almost silent. Amy took a deep breath and closed her eyes, basking in the tranquility. She nearly fell asleep.
Meanwhile, on a similar field, Sonic was sitting down. His thoughts were much less tranquil. He was thinking about Amy and how he could show her how much he cared. How he could show her what he felt. Sonic had always been the type to act first and think later, but he wanted to take a different approach this time. He wanted to do something special for Amy, something that would show her how much he cared without overwhelming her. His eyes were drawn to a vibrant yellow flower nearby, its petals radiating warmth and joy. Sonic's lips curled into a smile, thinking that it would be perfect for what he had in mind. Sonic picked the flower carefully, making sure not to damage it. He held it gently in his hand, admiring its delicate beauty. He knew exactly what he was going to do with it. He took out his notebook, and started writing away. As he finished his writing, he took the page and the flowers and put them into an envelope. Sonic's hand trembled ever so slightly as he carefully tucked the vibrant yellow flower into the envelope. A mischievous smile danced on his lips as he folded the written message with utmost care and slipped it into an envelope. His mind buzzed with anticipation, eager to execute his plan and reveal his true feelings to Amy, hoping that this gesture would convey what words often fail to express. It’s easier to send a message in writing, after all.

Comprehend Don’t Glimpse (1/3)
In an early heatwave of the Thanalans, the only reprieve was the tide’s splashes from the low-winds adjusting against the pier of Crescent Cove where often all transactions and hauling done with the Crew known at the time as ‘The Goldbrand’ a band of misfits who were small in familia numbers outside but proficiently equalized multiple in their respective trades and categories. This took place prior to becoming ‘Captain’ Solaire when the title wasn’t mantled on him. Still relatively in his heart-throbbing youth where decisions were impactful in determining the man to become. During loading of cargo to the ship merely known as ‘Crimson’ of time. His fellow clients wished to have smuggled something that brought to him that’d questioned everything and challenge him, proving to the scale of his character. -- His heart that couldn’t be shown. Given the lecture, it was dangerous to give such and he’d pay the price as the future inevitably dictated. He’d wipe the sweat off the forehead scanning off only a few more remaining, readjusting his bandana. A wooden crate with air pocket-holes remained as his hands graced the outskirt’s edges to lift, a muffled and loud pitched newborn whine played out. Causing him to settle down and step away readjusting his feline ears towards, “Shite….no.” said. A similar situation arose, he too abandoned and left. But not like this, not inhumane, not as a treated object or possession packed with all the other items and trafficked. He knew that his crew would surely come back and couldn’t explain to them, they’d probably overlook. But among the crew out of all them, he always had one thing that separated him a tad-more, compassion. He sought to understand others and conversed with all forms as he honed his speechcraft. Here laid conflict. What to do… That morally kept repeating his head agonizing him. As he paced taking his bandana off and rummaging through his hair pulling it in a swept-back. <Damn it, damn it, damn it! Why> This was a gun loaded that he couldn’t pull the trigger to leave be. It was far too dangerous to leave the defenseless youngster and stuff them in the cargo-room and expect the waves kind, it wouldn’t work to take care of the thing or even have it aboard. Whoever was behind it was far more heartless beyond humane. But it wasn’t uncommon, he was close to the place known for exchanging in every trade unimaginable including disgusting acts like this. There was corruption all over the scope of Ul’dah. He saw it and lived through it and dealt with it. He stormed off quickly and ran to his room gathering his long-coat from his dresser and placing it on and taking a crowbar, he’d uplift the lid and cradle the kid between his coat protectively. “Least I can give you a chance fer yer freedom. I hate to leave you in the orphanage I was in, though beats anywhere else! Don’t tell anyone I did this...” He’d sigh a firm hand on the back of its scalp as he needed to navigate a sandstorm localized in Thanalan at the current standing that kept people locked in their homes in Horizon and elsewhere on the journey. He took the brunt of it and kept under wraps the child who slowly faded from crying and became comforted by the conditioning care finding sleep. He entrusted information to his shadow only buried far away in the secrecy of his gentle caring nature in-order to prevent frowns or agreements with his guts righteousness. It wasn’t about masculinity or pride, It was about exploitation that could be used as a weak-point. In the piracy or underground circuit world, nothing paid more currency then knowledge of another’s wiring, how they conduct themselves. Lying was often the currency and there were different-faced lies that could mask truth away from the law. Anything could be achieved by belief and confidence of one who discusses or interjects topic if they can believe they’re playing a role, they’re not lying to anyone other than themselves. Which they can use to sell anything on an external level, where nearly all people often have access too. Which they can read and study facial features, ticks, or twitches, by overcoming and halting that no one holds power over you. The flaw is down to showing emotional attachments to the wrong individuals. Because they can use it as a weapon, this pirate held a golden heart that is outlined by black, which served as a targeted item to seize by the Rivaled Captain’s, Opposers, Immortal Flames, Brass Blades those wishing to capture or gain upper hands to tip favor in bringing him, along with many likeminded to think past the same society of restraining shackles that kept submission for order, by any means it was craved design. Even if means they were even more dangerous and corruptive than the outlaws they announced to be wretched public villains.

Through It All: A Sonamy Story - Chapter 12: “First Date (Part 2)”
Sonic and Amy darted through the city, effortlessly navigating the bustling streets. The wind brushed against their faces, carrying with it a sense of liberation. They laughed and exchanged playful glances, their footsteps synchronized as if they were dancing to their own rhythm. In that moment, the world blurred around them, leaving only the two of them connected by their shared adventure. It was an exhilarating feeling, one that they shared with each other, as they ran together. Sonic had always been fast, but with Amy by his side, he felt like he could run forever. As they moved through the city, they talked about everything and nothing, enjoying each other's company. Eventually, they reached the outskirts of the city, where the buildings gave way to lush green fields and hills Sonic had spent his early adventures traversing. They ran up a steep hill, the grass still wet with dew, rustling under their feet as they moved.
When they reached the top, they stopped to catch their breath. The view from the top was breathtaking, the entire city laid out before them, the sky glowing. They sat down on the grass, enjoying the view and the cool breeze. It was a peaceful moment, one that they both appreciated. As they sat there, Amy turned to Sonic and said, "Sonic, I'm really glad we're doing this. Just the two of us, no interruptions or distractions. I feel like we never get to spend enough time together like this." Sonic smiled, his eyes glinting in the sunlight. "Yeah, me too, Ames. It's nice to just hang out without any pressure or obligations." They both sat in silence for a moment, taking in the view and enjoying each other's company.
Eventually, Sonic spoke up. "Amy, I need to tell you something you’ve always wanted to hear." Amy turned to look at him, curiosity etched on her face. "What is it, Sonic?" Sonic took a deep breath and said, "I've been thinking about this for a while, and I don't want to hide it anymore. For a while, I was hiding it from myself. So I’m just gonna say it.” “Tell me!” “I like you, Amy. A lot. More than just a friend. No. More than just that.
I love you, Amy Rose."
Amy's eyes widened in surprise, and a smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. "Sonic, I had almost no idea. You don’t exactly make it easy to tell. But I like you too. A lot.
I love you, Sonic the Hedgehog.
I always have, and I still do. I tried to stop, but true love is eternal. You know that." Sonic felt a wave of relief wash over him. He had been so worried about confessing his feelings to Amy, but her response was better than he could have ever hoped for. "I'm so glad to hear that, Ames. You have no idea how long I've wanted to tell you that. I’m tired of being afraid of the next Eggman attack. I’m tired of only being a hero. I want to be unafraid. I want to live outside of hero work. I want to be with you, where I’m not afraid, and where there’s so much I can do in life." Amy laughed, a tinkling sound that made Sonic's heart soar. "Sonic, I've been waiting for you to say something like this for years. I never thought you would, but I'm glad you did. And if you need help, I'll help you through whatever it is that you need help with." Sonic continued. “I never thought I would. Thanks, I guess.” “Well, you’re welcome!”
Amy moved towards Sonic ecstatically. Their faces drew closer, the air thick with anticipation. The tension between them was palpable, and Sonic felt his heart racing in his chest. As Amy leaned in for a potential kiss, as she had done many times in the past, Sonic didn't hesitate. This time was different from all those other times. He closed the gap between them. Their noses touched. Neither one truly knew what was going on, yet they still relished in this moment. Time almost stood still. But time waits for no one, and every moment must end. They broke apart, their gazes locked, their breaths intermingled. Amy's face lit up with a radiant smile, her eyes sparkling. "Sonic, that was amazing. I've been waiting for that moment for so long. I feel like I’m lost in a dream," Sonic smiled back, feeling happier than he had in a long time, happier than any other time in recent memory. “This is reality. And it certainly was amazing. I'm sorry I made you wait so long, Ames. I should’ve told you sooner. I should’ve figured it out sooner." “At least it happened.” Amy responded. “And I’m so glad - I’ll remember this for at least the rest of my life.”
As they reveled in the aftermath of their kiss, Sonic's senses picked up an unwelcome familiar sound—the blaring sirens, the ominous hum of machinery, all the unmistakable signs of impending danger. His expression turned grave as his realization sank in. “Oh no. Of course he would do this. Of course he would,” Sonic muttered, a sense of dread settling in his stomach. “He’s gonna pay for this!” “What's happening?” Amy asked, her voice tinged with concern. Sonic's eyes focused on the horizon, his tone grave. “Something I really wish wasn't,” he replied, his words carrying a sense of urgency and responsibility. The interruption shattered their peaceful moment, thrusting them back into the chaotic reality they had momentarily escaped. The fear Sonic had wished to leave behind was back. Eggman had returned.
Through It All: A Sonamy Story - Prologue: “Memories”
We all know the story of when Sonic the Hedgehog met Amy Rose. Sonic's many adventures have become a modern mythology of sorts. You probably know the story already. According to Amy, their first meeting was a destined encounter. According to Sonic, it was a simple accident. Amy fell in love with Sonic. Sonic was annoyed by her constant advances. Despite this, they became good friends, though Amy still wished for their relationship to be something more. This continued for years as they fought side by side, Amy always hoping for a chance to win Sonic's heart. Even when Sonic agreed to go on a date, an odd series of events prevented it from happening. After their most recent adventure in the Starfall Islands, Sonic parted ways with his friends. Tails returned in not much time, with many stories to tell. Knuckles was almost always separate from the others. But Amy had done the most. She went on a journey. She wished to spread a “love that transcended time” that she had seen on the Starfall Islands. But this journey was also one of soul-searching. Her love for Sonic got her nowhere in life. She began trying to change her ways. But, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop her feelings. She loved from within. Meanwhile, Sonic couldn't stop feeling lonely, even after Tails returned. He kept going through his life while he constantly kept feeling like something was missing. So when these two individuals, who have run or are running away from love, finally meet again...what will happen? Love is a powerful, beautiful, strange, and ironic force, after all.
Through It All: A Sonamy Story - Chapter 3: "Wait What, I'm In Love"
Sonic sat on his bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought. The sheets were twisted off his body by that point. He couldn't believe what he had come to realize - he was in love with Amy. It felt like his world had been turned upside down, and he didn't know what to do. He had always thought of Amy as just a friend, someone he cared about deeply but never in a romantic way. He pulled himself out of bed as if he had a horrible nightmare.
He paced around his room, trying to shake off the feeling. "This can't be happening," he muttered to himself. "I can't be in love with Amy. We're just friends." But no matter how much he tried to convince himself, the truth remained. He couldn't deny the way his heart raced when he was around her, or how much he looked forward to spending time with her. He couldn’t deny that a Sonic that never changed would accept a request for a date. It was like a lightbulb had gone off in his head, illuminating something he should have realized happened when it did. Sonic flopped down onto his bed and stared up at the ceiling again, his mind whirring with a thousand questions. He knew that Amy fell head-over-heels for him all those years ago on Little Planet, but the Amy he knew now was so different that he truly couldn't tell if those feelings remained.
"Oh, the irony," he thought to himself. Sonic tossed and turned in his bed, unable to get comfortable. He wondered if he should talk to someone about what he was feeling, but who could he talk to? Tails was always a good listener, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to confide in his best friend about this yet. Knuckles was another possibility, but he wasn't exactly known for his emotional intelligence, and he was on Angel Island anyways. Sonic rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache coming on. He needed to clear his head and get some fresh air.
He got up from his bed and went to his closet, grabbing his signature running shoes. Outside, the sun bathed the streets in a golden glow, casting long shadows that danced at Sonic's feet. The gentle breeze tousled his quills, carrying with it the scent of freshly mown grass and the distant melody of chirping birds. With each step, the soft earth beneath his shoes seemed to ground him, calming the whirlwind of thoughts in his mind. Sonic took a deep breath of the fresh air and felt a sense of calm wash over him. He started to jog down the street, his mind still racing. He tried to focus on the feel of the wind in his quills and the sound of his feet hitting the pavement, but his thoughts kept returning to Amy. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had to tell her how he felt, but he didn't want to risk their friendship. As he ran, Sonic thought back to all the times he and Amy had spent together. He remembered how she would always follow him around, constantly trying to get him to notice her. He used to find it annoying, but now he couldn't help but feel a bit flattered by her attention. It was like she saw something in him that he didn't even see in himself. He didn't want to hurt her, but he also didn't want to keep his feelings bottled up inside. He didn't even know if she still liked him. As Sonic jogged down the street, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt in his chest. How could he have been so blind to his own feelings? How could he have missed all the signs that were so obvious now? How could he have lived in the dark? How could he never notice this change until possibly too late? He slowed his pace to a walk as he tried to process his emotions. He thought about many things. About love, about loss, about friends, about enemies, about needs, about wants, about good, about evil. He thought many things about these many subjects. Moments later, Cream's voice interrupted Sonic's thoughts as she called out to him, pulling him back to reality. "Hey Mr. Sonic, what are you doing out here?" Cream asked as she skipped up beside him. Sonic forced a smile, trying to hide his inner confusion. "Just taking a walk, Cream," he replied, trying to sound casual. Cream looked up at him, her big brown eyes full of concern. "Is everything okay?" she asked. Sonic hesitated for a moment before answering. He trusted Cream, and maybe talking to someone would help clear his head. "Actually, Cream, I'm not sure if everything is okay," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. Cream looked up at him, her expression softening. "What's wrong, Mr. Sonic? You can talk to me." Sonic took a deep breath, trying to find the words to express what he was feeling. "Well okay, now don't tell anyone else, but...I think I might have...feelings for...someone." he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper. Cream's eyes widened. "Who could it be?", she softly yet excitedly asked. Sonic's brain moved at it's top speed, trying to think up a good answer. "I'm not interested in telling. The important part is, I'm not sure how to feel about it, or what to do about it." Cream nodded thoughtfully, "I understand. It can be really confusing and scary when you're not sure what to do with your feelings." Sonic was relieved that Cream didn't press him for more details. "Yeah, it's just that I don't want to ruin anything, you know? This...person...and I are friends." he said, feeling a knot form in his stomach. Cream gave him a gentle smile. "I think if this person is really your friend, they'll understand that you need to be honest with them about how you feel," she said wisely. Sonic nodded slowly, feeling slightly better. "Thanks, Cream. You always know just what to say," he said, patting her on the head.
Cream giggled and skipped off down the street, leaving Sonic to his thoughts once again. As he continued his walk, Sonic couldn't help but feel a sense of small hope. Cream's words had given him some comfort, but he still didn't know if he was ready to talk to Amy about his feelings. At least it got him out of his spinning mind.
As he walked, he found himself passing by a familiar tree, one that he had sat under many times before. He felt a sudden urge to sit down and think for a while, so he made his way over to it and sat down. Sonic settled beneath the comforting shade of the tree, its leaves rustling in the breeze above him. The dappled sunlight painted a mosaic of warmth on his face, evoking memories of laughter and adventures shared with Amy and all his other friends. The gentle sway of the branches whispered tales. As he looked out at the view, he felt a strong sense of nostalgia. He remembered all the good times he and Amy had shared, and he thought hard. "Wait, why am I denying a fact? Something I know is true? Why am I denying a true fact? A fact that ... You know what, I'm right. I, Sonic the Hedgehog, have fallen in love, with Amy Rose. I’ve changed and I'm okay with that. Oh, the irony." He let out a chuckle as he walked back to his house, a wide smile on his face.
