Brief Backstory:

-raised as far out of the public eye as possible (public knew of their existence but were heavily discouraged from harassing them)

-was about 6 years old when Lustre Dawn and Cupid were brought into the household (was meant to be temporary, but grew into a more long term thing)

-they didn’t understand why the kids were there at first, and why attention was taken away from them, until they found out Starlight Glimmer had abandoned the kids

-In Willow’s head, Starlight Glimmer became the “big bad” figure (which wasn’t necessarily wrong… at the time)

-They immediately rushed to taking care of their new younger siblings (“THEY’RE FAMILY NOW!”)

-Not the best sibling ever, but tries their darn hardest to take care of them

-Has a decent amount of arcane magic-uses runes to make things happen (e.g. made a levitation magic necklace for when they don’t want to get up, has security runes on their bedroom door)

-loves the idea of swimming, but isn’t very good at it. They prefer to use pool floats now

-sometimes hangs out with Floral Melody and Calvados, but prefers to irritate Frosted Shake and chill by themself.

A little character study on my character, Caramel Apple (rarijack kid)

Content Warning for talk of trauma, violent behaviour, and severe physical trauma under the cut, as well as intrusive thoughts.

Far left Caramel with the wavy hair & middle with wavy hair:

-Caramel Apple actually has very textured wavy hair, but has been straightening it since she was younger.

-She straightened it because things used to get tangled in it and others made fun of her for it (e.g. a pen, or some leaves. She never tied her hair back properly to keep stuff out of it because she hated the feeling of it being tied back. Only put up with ponytails after straightening

Bottom Left, talking to her mum and ma (Rarity and Applejack):

-I imagine she has a strained relationship with Applejack and Rarity due to pursuing a career they worry for her in (being a bodyguard for hire for the canterlot elite)

-Also has trouble coming to terms with her mum, Rarity, being opposed to violent behaviour (she will do it if she has to, but has stressed to Caramel in the past that there is a limit to violence that should not be crossed)

-Rarity was the first to witness Caramel Apple scrapping in the school yard, and had to come to terms with the fact Caramel had broken other kids bones (some of whom had not been involved with the initial incident)

-this childhood incident was the result of Calvados’s (her younger brother) stuffed toy being stolen and him being taunted. For some reason, after getting the toy away from the bullies, she decided to attack them when their backs were turned.

-Applejack told her this behaviour was unacceptable as well, and during Caramel’s suspension, Applejack set her to hard farm work to get out her aggression

-this worked, and by the end of the week she had started crying and went to apologise to the kids she’d attacked (they were also punished for the theft of the toy, but not as severely as they had not begun the physical fight)

-although her apologies were accepted, she remained isolated from the other students at school, before eventually transferring back to home schooling

-caramel sometimes has periods where she remembers what she did to the students at her school and becomes near-catatonic

-because she went into bodyguard work these memories often get intermingled with her childhood ones

-she most likely has PTSD

-she always tries to downplay her trauma to Nightshade but Nightshade sees right through it

Brief Backstory:

-raised in a very loving home by Octavia and Vinyl scratch. He appreciates classical music, but eventually developed an interest in rock and screamo, and the emo and scene aesthetic

-has some musical talent, is a pretty good singer (and screamer)

-gained cutie mark when younger after mashing up some flowers and accidentally making a really nice smell

-will go on to make more sophisticated scents as he gets older, and runs his own little business in pony ville that occasionally delivers to canterlot

-is friends with Calvados, due to a shared interest in video games. It unironically loves games like guitar hero, and will go out of its way to find “cringey” games that like 3 creatures have played ever

-it didn’t go to school for a few years due to parental worries over bullying (and the incident with Caramel Apple) but went there around 10 years old?

-Vinyl Scratch has selective mutism, and tends to communicate via writing and some pony equivalent of sign language when unable to speak. As a result, Melody has a decent understanding of pony sign language and learnt to read fairly early

Eldritch and Amethyst Quartz are in their mid/late teens here! (I'm thinking 16/17)

Dialogue edited to reflect Nightshades age in comparison to the group, and her new name.

Amethyst Quartz: "I'm glad you could sleep here tonight! We're going to have so much fun. I was thinking we'd read some Sailor Moon, then maybe paint our hooves?"

Eldritch: "Oh, yeah! That sounds cool, we need to do the assignment first though," *shifts nervously* "I mean, if that's okay with you."

Amethyst: "Why wouldn't it be? We're best friends, I'm sure we'll get through the work super fast! Then we can do the fun stuff." *she pulls out her work, and hurriedly starts pulling out pencils and paper* "C'mon!"

*a few hours pass, they finished their assignments and ate dinner, then started reading comics instead*

Eldritch: *sleepily* "Hey Amethyst... Why do you act different at school? You don't have to act like a stuck up snob to have friends. And why don't you tell them you're gay?"

Amethyst: "Oh really?" *snorts* "Look, everyone there would eat us alive if I didn't put them in their place. They already treat me badly because I'm... Chubby. And have two mums. If I told them I liked manga and girls they'd turn on me in an instant."

Eldritch: "Yeah, but you keep dating guys even though you don't like them. Why?"

Amethyst: "Why does it matter? I'm at least trying to get people to think I'm normal. You don't even try to fit in."

Eldritch: *lets out a long yawn* "I do try. I made friends with Nightshade, didn't I? And she's like, a princess."

Amethyst: "Oriana asked you to give her a pencil so she could edit the speech she was giving to the school. Because she was a school guest. And like, an adult and stuff. That doesn't mean you're friends."

Eldritch: "Yeah, well I was the only one who spoke to her that day..." *mumbles, yawns again*

Amethyst: "You're too naive. Being "friends" with her may be a status symbol, but she's not gonna be acquainted with a highschooler. You need to aim for someone more in reach. Like Blueblood's son, or something like that... Are you even listening?"

Eldritch: *snores*

Amethyst: *quietly* "I just want people to leave us alone... I care about you Eldritch."

I was experimenting with a more casual/simple style and accidentally hurt my heart oof

Eldritch wasn't expecting to overhear her Amethyst... Her best friend (maybe even almost girlfriend?) talk about her like some... Monster... Behind her back.

Thankfully she ran off before she could hear the rest of what Amethyst had to say about her... But the damage was already done. Seeds of doubt and fear planted.

The next time they talked, an argument broke out.

After that argument they didn't talk again.

(This is set during like... College years. They were roommates, but Amethyst was never at home. Eldritch found herself having to clean up more and more, while Amethyst did the "social protection"... Turns out, she wasn't doing anything to protect her friend)

A short, stand-alone comic set in my MLP Next-Gen world, Dreamverse, about Rainbow Dash meeting her adopted daughter Whirlwind for the first time. This comic takes place about ~7 years before the start of the main Dreamverse Comic. Rainbow Dash received a desperate letter from the Horseshoe Home for Children about an orphan who was having difficulty finding a home because of her extreme and uncontrollable speed. In Dreamverse, Rainbow Dash married Gaffer, a minor character from the MLP Comics. Gaffer was a school-age friend of Shining Armor's. Whirlwind's flight often generates fire and lightning, which has burned off her mane and most of her tail. She's broken her nose a few time from crashing and her muzzle is permanently crooked.
