((Actually started this months ago, but got slammed by art-block for a loooong while. Until last week after I finally got a new laptop ^u^ Haven’t shaded anything in ages, so it was fun to get back into that and I’m very pleased with the result~

Bell Nexux

Nexux hummed a tune to himself as he tapped away on the holopads before him, tuning out his surroundings as he finished getting his stuff setup. All around him, night club staff were moving back and forth, preparing for another long night of heavy music, dancing bodies and drunk human shenanigans.

The musically-inclined reploid only glanced away from the holopads when an e-tank was placed beside the setup, a staff member nodding to him with a smile. Nexux nodded his head in return and signed ‘Thank you’ to them.

Only once the staff member had walked away did Nexux pick up the e-tank and turned his back on the rest of the night club. Leaning back against the sturdy DJ Booth, he opened the e-tank and gently tugged his facial mask down so he could take a sip. Ahh, raspberry flavor. He liked this flavor.

Checking his internal clock, it was only half-an-hour until the club opened for the evening.

Thankfully, he’d pretty much mostly gotten his setup finished. Just a few finishing touches and he’d be ready to be tonight’s DJ. And it was going to be a fun night with a few new tunes he’d compiled.

Nexux let himself smile a little, before taking another drink of his e-tank, then lifting his mask back up and turning around to make those finishing touches.

Nexux was sat on a bench in Abel City's downtown area, with headphones on and a holopad on his lap. It seemed he was zoned out to everything around him, eyes on the holopad screen and head bobbing as fingers tapped on colored squares on the screen.

He was using a beat maker, possibly trying to come up with new song material or playing around to pass the time/chill out. Either way, he seemed to be enjoying himself.

((Sooo, I got body-kun and body-chan poseable figures from my brother for my birthday (early present since it’s not my birthday quite yet), and they inspired me to make a pose and draw Nexux with it. It worked out fairly well, had to edit the left hand when drawing ‘cause I hadn’t pose it quite right but I made it work!

So yeah, some official art of the sweet silent DJ.

And yes, he does have a mouth under the mask xD

{Get to Know my Muse in 8 Songs or Less}

Music is a great way to get a sense of a character’s personality, history, or general vibes. You might only have a handful of songs you associate your muse, or you could have a massive playlist that’s impossible to list. Songs make it for all kinds of reasons: the lyrics, the genre, or maybe you just found the song at random and it stuck. The purpose of this meme is to introduce your muse in the span of one album or less, share some of your musical inspiration, or even stuff you’re into right now while you write! You can explain as much or as little as you like (multimuses are welcome to do one track per character too!).

1. Bad by Royal Deluxe; First song I heard that fit Umbran extremely well and among the first I added to his playlist when I first made it. The lyrics just fit him too well and the beat is a bop!

2. Dead Man Walking by WAR*HALL; Another song I found early on that instantly made me think of Umbran when I heard it. The lyrics fit him and it’s a damn good song. Since hearing this song, Umbran does sometimes call himself a ‘dead man walking’, for obvious reasons x3

3. Paralyzed by NF; This is an ‘oof’ sort of feels song, and is a big inspiration for how things are slowly going for Umbran. More distant and cold and emotionless x3 Who knows what might happen to him when he loses his empathy and mercy~

4. Point Of No Return by Starset; Definitely a song that fits how Umbran feels about his situation. He’s burned bridges and doesn’t believe he’s able to go back to how things were after everything he’s done.

5. Back To Life by Skillet; Same vein as Paralyzed in that it’s inspiration for current plot(s). And a bit of a relationship song as well xP

6. Man Or A Monster by Sam Tinnesz ft. Zayde Wolf; Very much a future plot song. The lyrics fit really well with how things are gonna potentially go for Umbran’s future x3

7. Solstice by Starset; Another ‘future plot’ song.

8. Stay Alive by Hidden Citizens; Good song with lyrics that fit Umbran really well with his being a ‘Maverick’ and having to survive on his own.

9. Remembering Myself by Stephen; Very much a song that fits future plot with a particular relationship. I blame @machinesandman​ for linking me this song and I know he’s proud of himself for it xD

10. Anchor by Skillet; Same vein as the above song. Fits future plot stuff with the same relationship x3 Gave the other mun feels when I linked it to ‘em >P

1. GIANTS by True Damage; The song that started it all! This is the song & music video that inspired Nexux. Nexux wouldn’t exist if not for this song.

2. Renegade by Noisestorm; Sort of genre/beat he’d play as a DJ/personally listen to. Really fun song to headbang or bounce to.

3. Neon by Televisor; Same as the previous song. Good beat and sort of genre he’d play as a DJ, and something he’d personally listen to.

4. Sentinel by Noisestorm; Same again x3

5. Dragonfly by M.Craft; A song Nexux would personally listen to while chilling out.

6. Proxy by Martin Garrix; Another good song he’d potentially play as a DJ. Especially when dat beat drop!

7. Freaks by Timmy Trumpet & Savage; I mean, c’mon. Do I have to explain this one? It’s got a damn good beat, it’s a fun song and Nexux loves it.

8. Overdead by Azreal; And then sometimes Nexux likes hard-hitting, fast-paced shit, both to listen to and play as a DJ. Good luck to anyone who dances to music like this XD

9. Body Work by Morgan Page ft. Tegan and Sara; Maybe not a song anyone would expect Nexux to enjoy? But he loves dancing to this song and relates very much to the lyrics.

10. Cities Of The Future by Infected Mushroom; Clue is in the title and the lyrics fit nicely with the way the world is in MMX x3

🚧Basalt:- He would get wide-eyed and excited, probably trilling happily and tapping his front feet. And if the gifter is present, he’d thank them and carefully nuzzle them with a purr to show how grateful he is.

🔪Umbran:- He would be very confused because A) Who the heck would ever give him a gift (these days anyway)? and B) Who would even know him well enough to get a gift he’d like? Once the confusion wears off though, he’d be awkwardly thankful (and maybe a little suspicious).

🎧Nexux:- He’d be quite flustered and embarrassed, but would soon accept the gift. He’s used to getting little gifts though thanks to the kids that come to the youth music program he volunteers for. He literally has a wall of his bedroom dedicated to drawings and notes some of the kids have done for him. He’s never thrown a single one out.

Quiet Time

A reploid was sat on a bench in a quiet little park, enjoying the late-afternoon sunshine despite the coolness of the fall day. He was reading something on a tablet in his lap, while his head nodded along to some music playing through a pair of headphones.

His outfit was mostly black and dark grey, with touches of neon blue and green, comprised of a jacket, fingerless gloves, a body tight shirt, pants and thick boots. As well as the reploid’s standard half-face mask, with a dark mesh-like pattern.

Nexux was only here because it was the closest decent park to the slums, and he wanted a bit of quiet time before he’d have to travel further into the city for his job.
