Thinking about alien teeth
I have decided to do all the Mikus, the worlds are hers after all
The Nijezdi ↑
An Oni (Troll-Merfolk Hybrid) specifically, the hybrid race very well known for their musical magics
The Nezchelit ↑
The Pseudo-Centaur ↑
The Rezmal ↑
The Jiralf ↑
ngl, it was kind of a challenge trying to keep her recognizable, but this was hella fun.
I once again have made Elîsa x Azrail content
(also, sorry for not posting on this blog as much, been working on other projects not connected to the Lost Locket)
Nezchelit the Basics
Nezchelit (neh-shel-eet) are the third species discovered by Nijezdo, a semi-aquatic, sturdy people who get along quite well with Nijezdi.
Their planet Prilinewo (pree-lee-neh-voh) is one that is known for it's extreme tides, created by the close proximity of its 3 moons, nearly 3/4 of the planet is affected by tides. This leads almost ever single animal on their planet to be semi-aquatic in one way or another, and of course, nezchelit are no exception. Despite what you first may suspect, they are actually covered in very dense, very short fur covering most of their bodies. Leaving the only thing hairless being their fins and eyebrows, this is to keep them warm when swimming.
Their sexual dimorphism is, oddly enough, very similar to that of Humans, Fae, and Pixies. Having the men be larger, hairier, and all around physically stronger than their women. While the women are generally smaller, more agile, and "softer" looking than their men. However, the most common way of knowing if you're looking at a male or female nezchelit is to look at their tail: if the tail seems short and stocky; it's a man, if the tail is long and slender; it's a woman.
Though, most Nijezdi seem to be able to tell by face structure alone.
Now, of course is the part where I start talking about reproductive biology, so:
⚠The section under the cut talks about sexual reproduction. While it doesn't go into grueling detail, it is spoken about in a semi-scientific lens: Reader discretion is advised⚠
TLDR: Nezchelit reproduction is damn-near the same as Nijezdi (i.e. Human, Fae, and Pixie). Being monogamous, women are considered the "fairer sex", and child-rearing is a duel parent responsibility, though the mothers are considered the primary caregivers, while the fathers are considered the providers. The biggest difference (besides the obvious) is the fact that they are hyper carnivores, meaning that the vast majority of their diet is made up of meat. They also feed their liti (the common term for babies) the same way penguins do
Nezchelit Infant Development ft. baby Elîsa
Nezchelit development is very similar to that of Humans (and Fae and Pixie), though a slight bit slower. They are born very underdeveloped and most milestones happen about 3 months slower than most Nijezdi children (Harpy tend to be the only race with underdeveloped children at birth).
Baby nezchelit do not really crawl due to the action being very uncomfortable, instead they learn to swim faster than they learn to walk. Living on a world that has extreme tides tends to make the act of swimming a little more important than walking.
Sometimes breakfast can be messy
Since I started working on the Nezchelit people first, I've decided to come up with some fun facts:
Facts about the Nezchelit world
Their world is called "Prilinewo" (pree-lee-neh-voh), meaning "tidal zone"
Prilinewo is a mostly ocean covered world, with all but one of its continents being quite small
It has two moons that are closer than average
due to this, the tides on Prilinewo are quite extreme, making most kingdoms of biology semiaquatic to some extent(from animals to plants to fungi, and everything in between)
Facts about the Nezchelit
They are very good swimmers, though prefer to spend as much time out of water as they can
However, they need water to stay alive
Their bodies are covered in short, dense, waterproof hair, analogues to penguin feathers
When swimming, instead of using their hands for manipulating objects, it changes to their feet, in the same way a bird of prey may use its talons
The parts on their bodies that are bioluminescent only glow if they try to court, or threaten someone (you can tell the difference based off in their cursing at you or not)
The less waterproof and hydrodynamic their clothing, the richer they are
When it comes to sexual dimorphism, cultural beliefs, and even historical stepping stones, they are the closest to Nijezdi (Humans, Fae, and Pixies) compared to the other four sapient species we have found
