Swell Wrapping Up Today...Surf Report Dec. 5, 2011
If you caught it early yesterday, before the clouds & wind came up, it was quite nice along Northern Massachusetts & the seacoast of NH! This morning spotty fog is reducing visibility along some shores, and a 3 foot SE swell with an eight to ten second period still persists across much of New England. The progressive drop in swell periods from around eleven or twelve seconds Friday and Saturday to eight or ten seconds today indicates that this 4 day swell event is drawing to a close. In total, after you factor in the swell from last Tuesday night's weather front, we had 6 days of swell in a row! We hope you were able to catch some of it!
Though a side/ onshore wind (S/SW) will confound many breaks again today, it will at least provide us with another relatively warm day for early December. Clouds will increase as a slow moving weather front stalls over us tomorrow, bringing in another warm, but rainy day. A cool down is on tap for next weekend with highs only in the 30s. Surf through the period looks to be rather unremarkable at this time with a very short interval NE wind wave possible around mid week, but this could change as there is not much agreement among the weather models right now.
