Hmmm-was checking National Grid online. I went on the budget plan cos I thought the air conditioner would cost me money in the hot months. Yet even though we had a lot of days in the 90's F in May, my usage actually went DOWN, not up. Weird, that. Goes to show how much energy my electric baseboard heat was eating up over the winter--and this was the mildest winter on record for this part of the world.
Well, all I can say is, that if my usage is still down for June, I may go off the budget plan till October, as my monthly non-budget plan bill may actually be a good 10 to 20 dollars lower than the budget plan's "set amount" bill. I mean they DO credit you for any overpayments, but they don’t do that until December, which is complete and utter bullshit, if you ask me. And even if you don’t ask me.
Pardon my language, but I’m afraid the bigwigs who run the USA version of National Grid are inefficient, consumer unfriendly assholes. God, we natives of upstate NY do miss our former Syracuse NY based energy company, known as Niagara Mohawk, wonderful people to deal with. Pity they sold out to the empty hearted greed-driven corporate bastards at NG.
Therefore, if my portable air conditioner is apparently so energy efficient--the lowest I keep it set at is 74 F, and usually it’s set a bit higher at 75 to 78 F, I might be hurting myself if I use the budget plan in the warmer months. I’ll have to give this a good think, and maybe place a call with the power company, have a little chinwag with them about my energy usage last month.
