Greater Niagara Circle Route aka The Redemption Ride
Last year on my birthday, we started out on this route (going clockwise) - about 70 miles in (right by Thorold) I wiped out at 40kph and gave myself a concussion, needed stitches in my arm, and had a myriad of other cuts, bruises, and grazes.
Ever since then I’ve been firmly telling Dan that I had no desire to go ride on this route again. “It isn’t even that nice.”
Well, yesterday we rode it again, in its entirety, without incident. We went counter clockwise, mainly so that my crash location was towards the beginning - fretting about it for the majority of the ride would not have been a good vibe. Unlike last year, we were able to use public washrooms and stop at gas stations for refills, which made it so much more convenient.
There were a LOT of people out and about - the beach at Fort Erie was insanely busy, partly because of an air show taking place in Buffalo, and Niagara Falls was so busy compared to last year when it was basically a ghost town. I’m glad we got to ride it and tick it off the list before the land border opens because I cannot even imagine what the traffic is like in more normal times.
