hey Mish! so, i celebrate halloween and want to dress up as poison ivy from the comics. she is portrayed as having green skin in some comics and in others she doesn't. i have been reading posts created by Jewish people and how green skin is antisemitic. i was wondering what your opinion on this is. and what about harley quinn, since she's Jewish, too. is it alright to dress up as her for halloween? thank you in advance.

Part 1: Poison Ivy so it is totally fine to wear green skin paint because she is canonically green.
I would say it is fine to do green for any character that has green skin as long as it is not a witch because of the association with that.
Part 2: Harley Quinn is Jewish, but you don’t have to be Jewish to dress up as her or any Jewish fictional character as long you don’t do Jew-face.
Like lets say you really like Storm right and want to dress up as her. I think it would be fine as long as you don’t do Black-face.
I mean though I don’t really get a say in whether it is actually okay to dress up as a fictional black character as long as you stay away from Black-face since I’m not black. I was simply using that as an example.
However, if the person is a real person then you should not dress up as that person if you don’t belong to said minority ethnic or racial group.
