Nickel (Niccolum, Ni)
Anton and Chemical Elements
Chapter one
It supposed to be an ordinary, sunny day. But nothing went according to the plan. Anton sighed and looked at smiling boy before him. The boy was all silver-grey and had Ni symbol on his chest. It was Nickel, a metal with magnetic properties, usually used for magnets and coins. And it was alive.
“Hey, what are you doing? I hadn’t a company for a long time,” silver one spoke. Anton just growled and ignored him. At least, he tried to. It wasn’t easy, Nickel didn’t care, if Anton was actually listening to him, he was so busy with talking. “Goddamnit, just shut up already,” Chigurh groaned. “Okay, we’ll just play a small game,” metallic teen grinned and pulled out a small coin. “Call it. Heads or tails?” The killer wasn’t very pleased. “If it’s head, you’ll be quiet since then. Got it, friendo?” Metal nodded and tossed the coin. His magnetism caused, that Nickel tossed too. Anton watched this farce, no emotion on his clean shaven face appeared, although he was a little bit confused. He looked at the coin and smiled. It was head.
Nickel sat beside Anton in his car. There was quite comfortable silence. For a few hours they hadn’t spoken a word. However, Nickel got bored. After another mile he asked Anton: “Had you ever thought about new haircut, friendo? You know, you won’t get any chick with it.” That was a point, when the psychopath had finally enough and. He pulled the car up, took metal boy for an arm and without any word got him out of the car. Nickel just blinked. His magnetic powers kicked in and he was pulled to Anton’s car. He shrugged and climbed on the car roof. At least I will have a nice view from there, he thought.
It didn’t last long, until Anton noticed something wasn’t allright. He stopped again, got out of the car and saw this annoying metallic teen on his roof. “What do you think you’re doing, friendo?” Nickel came down and smiled, while they both sat in the car again. “You thought I will leave you all alone, friendo? Don’t worry, we’re going to be inseparable couple since now.” With a wide grin, Nickel hugged Anton.
Chigurh looked at that poor child with a stern face, who probably hadn’t a single idea, who was dealing with. “You passed the point of no return, boy,” he said, better to say whispered, with a deep, silky voice. It was a mark of slightly pissed off Anton. And pissing Anton Chigurh off hadn’t ended well for anybody yet…
Nickel took it on another level, when he changed his position and sat into Anton’s lap, cuddling the killer. “You seem to be tensed, friendo, just relax and enjoy the ride.” He patted Anton’s hair and messed it up. Chigurh bursted out. “Enough.” And he kicked the metal out of his car. He got off as well, and walked the road instead.
Alive metal just stared at the tall man with silver bomb gun walking away from him. He tried to go opposite direction, when his magnetic powers kicked in once again. He was slowly pulled to coins in Anton’s pocket, since they contained Nickel, therefore worked for boy as a small magnet.
Anton noticed, that the annoying silver thing is following him, and started to go faster. “Leave me alone, you annoyed me enough already.” “Well, I’d love to, but I cannot, obviously. Your coins work like a magnet for me, since it’s made from Nickel and I’m Nickel in pure form. I’m very magnetic,” elementary metal started to involuntarily run beside the killer. Anton decided for desperate solution. He threw every coin he had in his pockets at Nickel. “I hope that now you will leave me alone.” But he probably didn’t know, that his silver tank also contained some Nickel…
Nickel picked coins and threw them in opposite direction. He hoped he would use his magnetic powers to get away from Anton. “As you wish. Goodbye and have a nice day,” the metal mumbled to Anton’s direction. Nickel’s plan didn’t work though and poor element was pulled to the psychopath once again.
Chigurh didn’t pay attention to what was happening behind his back. When the metal was close enough, he was pulled stronger and hit assassin’s back. “Ah, shit, here we go again,” he sighed and looked at grey bomb, where his leg was pulled to. “I told you to leave, didn’t I? What are you doing here? And get off that thing,” Anton spoke. “I tried to, but it’s not easy, when you’re strongly magnetic metal.” Also another Nickel’s leg was pulled to the tank and dear element fell to the sand. He looked somehow desperate. ”I’m not going to have you stuck on my tank,” with those words Anton tried to pull Nickel off of the bomb. After some time and with a help from the metal, Chigurh was successful. “It seems now, that I’m going to be stuck with you.” “Yeah, it’s very possible,” Nickel looked at Anton back. This time he was serious and learnt his lesson to not make fun of the tall assassin.
“Hmmm, you told you’re magnetic….maybe you could be able to help me with something.” “I’d like to, if you want,” Nickel responded and smiled a little bit. “Good,” Anton took boy’s arm and lead them to his car. “There happens to be a job I need to do and you’re going to help me, but you have to do what I say.” Anton looked at his companion. “Okay, I will do as you say,” this time Nickel smiled completely. This is going to be a journey full of adventures…
