WHO IS THIS SEXY MAN and why is he so NICE looking?????
tw: mental breakdown, discussion of distressing topics/emotions - stay safe <3
It was 2 AM on a Friday, and the Villain was not home.
They didn't know where they were going. Just walking, walking, walking...walking far away.
They cherished the refreshing nighttime breeze on their cheeks, the gentle starlight from above, the way their breath came out in small white puffs of air. Small comforts that they've never had the chance to experience before.
They cherished them, held them close to their heart, afraid that the world might rip them away just like it had done to so many other things in the Villain's life.
Time passed, unbeknownst to them.
Listless.
That's what they were. Listless, as they took one step after another with no direction in mind.
They felt sticks and stones fall flat under their shoes, listened to them snap and crackle and grind against the Earth. There were no buildings, no cars, no people.
Nothing that could hurt them.
The ground under them turned into soft, pure dirt, and the Villain stopped.
They blinked a few times, as if consciousness was slowly seeping back into their head.
In front of them was a field that stretched on for what could be interpreted as miles. The plants were tall, reaching just up to their chest, rustling and swaying this way and that.
The Villain paused, brow furrowed. They stepped into the field and tentatively stretched out a hand to brush the petals and leaves around them. Some kind of emotion they couldn't pinpoint seized in their chest.
Then they were running, running, running. Not running away...just running.
Freedom.
The wind picked up, feeling its way through the Villain's hair and coat. It whipped the foliage surrounding them into a frenzy, thin stalks whacking at their torso and getting caught in their clothes.
God, they felt like they could have been flying.
Ecstasy ripped through them. Laughter, bubbling and unrestrained, erupted from their mouth, filling them with a warmth they never knew was possible to experience. They let it ring out, loud and strong, over the field and through the empty air.
And yet, tears began to stream down their cheeks, bleeding into the warmth of their merriment and choking them up.
They kept running. Their legs burned. The stalks had left stinging red marks on any exposed skin. Their lungs screamed for a full breath of oxygen.
They kept running. Their tears were hot on their cold skin. Their heart was swollen with happiness and love and feeling--
And then, as if it had never happened, it ended.
They tripped and stumbled onto the ground, glancing behind them in bewilderment. They'd somehow reached the other side of the field.
They loosed a breathy laugh, but it trailed off and got lost. The only sound they could hear was their harsh panting as their body tried to reclaim some of its lost air.
The silence was deafening.
The Villain's hands gripped in the grass beneath them. Tears welled up in their eyes.
A gut-wrenching sob tore out of them and they began to cry, hard, as the weight of their guilt and anguish simply came crashing down on them.
They were stuck in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, reduced to nothing more than a wretched mess of tears and pain.
Nobody's going to save me.
Once again, time passed. The Villain could not keep track of the minutes, or perhaps hours, that went by, but they cried through it all.
Just stop stop stop stop stop--
Someone touched their shoulder.
They jolted so hard they fell over, fear shooting through them like a bullet. They blinked hard, trying to clear their vision, trying to scramble away and get somewhere safe--
"Villain..."
The Villain froze.
They knew that voice.
They rubbed their eyes, wiping away tears. "...H...Hero?"
The person--no, that was the Hero, that was most definitely them--smiled gently at them. "It's me."
The Villain inhaled and exhaled, breathing labored. "You...you found me."
The Hero crouched down next to them. "I got worried," was all they offered.
The Villain shook their head. "I-I don't understand." Their voice cracked. "Why did you..." They trailed off, throat tightening. "Why?"
"Because I needed you to know that somebody cared about you." The Hero watched them with a gaze so tender it could've melted stone. "I care."
The Villain stared at them. A half-stifled sob choked them up again, but it was pure relief that motivated it this time.
"It's okay." The Hero gathered the Villain up in their arms and let them cry into their shoulder. "It's okay."
"Thank you," the Villain whispered, barely audible.
The Hero held them close and pressed a kiss to the top of their head.
"Always."
Christmas day 2
Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3 December 26th, hours after Hero went home. They had been watching Supervillain all night, so that the guards that were normally there, could celebrate Christmas with their friends and family. Hero didn’t mind, since they already celebrated it earlier that day, and they had been quite curious to see how Supervillain was doing. But as the hours had gone by, Supervillain had barely moved. Hero could see they were watching something, but at first, they didn’t know what. As they followed Supervillain’s eyes, they saw the clock on the wall, the closed doors underneath it, and Supervillain had been staring at it all day, waiting for something to happen. ‘For someone to come,’ Hero thought. But that hadn’t happened. The doors had stayed closed all day, just like any other day, if Hero should believe the guards that came to relieve them later.
31 day December challenge #12
Villain fails at wrapping up the toys to their kid and leave it be, only to discover Hero. Who ends up helping them wrapping it up.
Hero sprinted through the corridors of Supervillain’s headquarters, sweat beading on their temple as they rounded the corner. One thought repeated in their mind like a broken record.
Where were they where were they where were they--
They skidded to a halt as they saw an open door to the right of them. They clutched the wall, trying to steady themselves. “Villain?” they called out as loudly as their hoarse throat would allow. “Villain, are you in there?”
No response.
Was there enough time to check the room? Sidekick had all the security measures sabotaged, but Hero didn’t know how much longer their hack would last. They clenched their jaw, frustration beginning to spear through their worry as they glanced at the immobile security camera behind them. “Villain?” they said again.
Still no response.
Gritting their teeth, they made way to leave. They had to keep moving. They could check here again on their way back--
“Hero?”
They whipped around at the almost inaudible rasp of their name. That was Villain. That was their voice. Relief pooled through Hero as they dashed into the room, eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness around them. They were able to make out a silhouette against the wall to the far left, curled deep into the corner.
“Oh my god. Villain,” Hero gasped, moving towards their incapacitated body.
Villain flinched, hands flying up towards their head, shielding their face as if they thought they were going to be hit. Shackles clamped around their wrists and held them to the ground, keeping them from escaping.
“Villain, it’s me. It’s Hero,” Hero whispered, gently grasping their shaking fingers and lowering them. In the dark, it was hard to see the extent of their injuries, but considering their weakened state, it couldn’t be good at all.
Villain shuddered. “H-Hero? Is that really you?” they croaked.
Never, in all the time Hero knew Villain, had Villain looked so helpless, so scared, so intimidated. Fury burned through Hero’s chest.
How dare Supervillain do this to them.
“Yes. Yes, it’s me,” Hero said, fighting to keep a tremble out of their words. “I’m going to get you out of here.” They grabbed a lock pick from their pocket and quickly undid the chains before gathering them up in their arms as delicately as possible.
Villain leaned their head against Hero’s chest and closed their eyes, a small, stifled groan escaping their lips as Hero began to run back to where Sidekick was waiting.
Hero spared a glance down at them. Bruises dotted their face, blood tricking from their nose and a cut on their temple. Their clothes were ripped, filthy, and Hero could see a dark spot pooling into the fabric near their torso. Every ragged breath they took made it a little bigger.
Anguish and guilt tore through Hero, but pressed ahead. They could deal with their feelings when they got out. They felt Villain begin to nod off. “Stay with me,” they said as they rounded the corner.
They slid through the exit just as the red intruder alarm blared.
Sidekick was already in the cockpit of their ship, concern flashing over their features at the sight of Villain before they started up the engine. Hero hurried up the ramp and lay Villain down on a cot as the vehicle lifted off the ground and sped away in a burst of white energy.
Hero grabbed a first-aid kit off the shelf, pulling out alcohol, a roll of bandages and a cloth.
Villain blinked at them thickly. “I didn’t think you’d come,” they murmured, words slurring from fatigue. They reached out a limp hand to brush Hero’s palm.
Hero slid their fingers in between Villain’s, holding on tightly as they leaned in close to brush their lips against their cheek. “For you, I’d always come.”
“Always?”
“Always.”
Hero stayed with them all the way back home, even when their wounds were cleaned and they fell into a deep sleep. Hero stayed with them until they awoke and checked their wounds, replacing the bandages and helping them out of bed.
For Villain, they would always stay.
Villain smiled wickedly as Hero held him by the collar over the rooftop. Blood dripped from his nose onto her clenched fingers. “It’s a shame,” he crooned, “that you don’t have the guts to let go of me.”
Hero bared her teeth, grip tightening just a hair. “It’s a shame that you can’t tell the difference between cowardice and a good moral compass.”
Villain’s grin turned sensual. “Darling, I know what you’re feeling, whether you like it or not.”
Hero slammed her mental shields outward and felt satisfaction when he flinched. Damn his stupid mind powers. “You don’t know a thing about me, and I plan to keep it that way.”
“So go ahead, then.” Villain cocked his head. “Drop me. Save the world, become a hero. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?”
“What I’ve wanted was for you to be gone from my life.” Hero heard the desperation in her voice and hated it. “I don’t care about the fame or the money.”
Villain eyes suddenly went soft. “So then do it,” he said quietly. “Get rid of me.”
Hero swallowed hard, searching his gaze for any sort of trick, any reason for why he was so ready for her to kill him, and found nothing.
