In this instance, the judge's excuse for supporting the defence is so insane that Nolan seems to literally bite his tongue.
And runs straight over to tell Nick about it. Nick is like Hmmmm but gives Nolan no indication he's taking it seriously.
Nick gets the confirmation he needs and goes to see Nolan in his office. He tells him he was right all along and what Nick is going to do is demand a mistrial (this is where Nolan starts to get misgivings about this approach) and also he's going to press charges against everyone involved in this criminal conspiracy. Nolan tries to remind him that warring with judges is bad for business etc like Nick himself told Nolan but Nick is like yeah I was telling you, not asking. Leave it with me; peace out.
Nolan does what he feels he has to do: he visits the defence attorney at home and negotiates a deal to get the killer literally any criminal conviction at all.
Nick finds out and is LIVID. He's waiting in Nolan's office the next morning when Nolan arrives at work and reams his ass out. Nolan tells him they didn't have the cards and he couldn't let Nick throw away his career. Nick tells him he should worry about his own career. HOWEVER.
In the next scene, Nick is announcing their fair and just guilty plea from the killer and Nolan is standing with the squad. He lives to litigate another day.
This was the season finale, but the show has been renewed, so if people enjoy these mini sort of recaps that are really just an excuse to look at pictures of Hugh Dancy, I will keep doing them when the show resumes in the fall!
Waiting: Nicholas Baxter x Reader (NSFW)

Summary: Nick decides to teach you a lesson for standing him up.
Law and Order 25x05 — Bend the Knee
A little rap up of my obsessions this year. 😅
Wake up babe the official l&o channel posted the praxter compilation
How crazy would it be if I decided to rewatch all the episodes since Baxter joined Law&Order simply in order to write a series of codas about him an Nolan and how my brain decided that despite the 15 years age gap and the boss/employee dynamic they would be a great ship and I ship it? Also is someone going to be interested or it'll be just me and my brain?
Ok, hear me out….Law and Order comes out with another show called Law and Order: Political Crimes. Rafael Barba becomes Manhattan District Attorney on Law and Order, freeing up DA Nick Baxter and executive ADA Nolan Price to run and win the White House so they can work from the inside to tackle political crimes.
