Okay, but imagine that Mallory and Ellen befriended each other during the time Ellen was with Alex, and that they kept in touch with each other after Ellen left for Paris.

Then, one day, Mallory calls Ellen and tells her that she and Nick are engaged, and she wants Ellen to be a co-maid of honor alongside Jennifer.

Meanwhile, Nick has asked Alex to be his best man.

And as the wedding draws closer, Alex and Ellen find themselves falling back into rhythm and realizing that they still love each other.

During the ceremony, they steal small glances at each other before correcting themselves and returning their attention to the bride and groom.

Then, at the reception (thanks to Mallory and Jennifer’s clever planning), their song begins to play over the speakers. Alex awkwardly asks Ellen for a dance, and... at the same spot in the song as the first time, they kiss.

Mallory is able to correctly aim her bouquet towards Ellen, and Nick tosses the garter over to Alex.

After the reception ends, Ellen shyly asks Alex if he would like to come back to her hotel room with her (Steven and Elyse at first insisted that Ellen stay with at the Keaton house, but Ellen ended up staying at a hotel). He accepts her offer and, by the next morning, they’re all snuggled up and just as, if not more, in love than ever.
