where: the white wyvern who: @nick-mulciber
The pub was dim, crowded, and just loud enough to muffle the thoughts rattling around Marlene’s skull. She pushed through toward the bar like she had a mission—though really, the only mission was getting a drink strong enough to make her stop thinking. She slid into a stool beside the nearest vaguely familiar face and didn’t look twice before muttering, “Rough day. Don’t ask.” Only after the barkeep handed her the glass did she properly glance sideways and realize it was Nick Mulciber beside her.
Her brows lifted slightly. “Well. Small world.” She raised her glass in something between a toast and a surrender. “I’m not in the mood to duel, hex, or have a philosophical debate about politics. So if you’re here to be difficult, I’ll take my drink to the corner and sulk in peace.” Her tone was light, biting in a dry sort of way, but not aggressive. Honestly, she didn’t care if he stayed or left—she just needed a moment to breathe. And maybe, if he wasn’t unbearable, some company that didn’t ask anything of her.
