Stopped in @thegatewayproject again today. Proud, but worried that the people who need to see the culture that #Newark has to offer dont make it past the sneaker stores on #BroadSt. The rich cultural and ethnic history will be lost to those it should inspire and then only be celebrated in observation by a new wave of ethnicities who will replace them as residents or simply work in the Gateway Center but wouldnt dare venture off the block to go eat or engage in the community. I digress. Im very glad the art is honest here. The last exhibit I saw here included pieces by #KaraWalker and even my family @derrickadamsny. The exhibit I saw today ・・・ #PROVISIONS... "PROVISIONS IS A #COLLECTION OF ABSTRACT PORTRAITS OF AFRICAN AMERICAN INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE PART OF THE #GREATMIGRATION FROM THE SOUTH TO NEWARK CIRCA 1910-1970. ALL MATERIAL TRANSCRIBED AND ENVISIONED BY #ADRIENNEWHEELER AND STUDENTS AT #RUTGERSNEWARK IN #NICKKLINE'S #BOOKARTS COURSE @thegatewayproject @nkline1045 " Salute to these people. Another happy #NewInNewark moment. Would love @haninigroup to have an art partnership in the new business to rotate the work of local artists! Just a thought! #newark #dtnwk #brickcity
