Week 2 of the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography workshop that I'm running and which is hosted by @kiactweets in #DawsonCity, Yukon, Canada. Andrea Magee (@amageephotography) sorts through some of her folders containing work shot in the first week of the workshop. We're all excited to see what workshop participants shoot as they dig into their stories. 031417. #AndreaMagee #KIAC #KIACArtistInResidence #nickkozak #workshop #documentary #photojournalism #lowlight #editing #storytelling #art #photography #north #northern #community #Yukon #Canada #evening #artists #working (at Dawson City)
Toronto photographer Nick Kozak beautifully documents the lives of youth in the remote Cree First Nation of Fort Albany
Toronto Life interview with several images from #FortAlbany First Nation.
I met TJ last night around 1:00 AM on the road across town in Fort Albany. He was with a friend at the top of the hill and they were looking to the other side, the other island. I was headed that way and TJ asked me if I he could walk with me. I asked why (upon reflection this is the point at which I’m already showing my own cowardice and fact that I’m spooked). TJ told me that the light over there on the other side reminds him of a scary movie and he needs to get over to his Kokoom’s (Grandma’s). I said let’s go. I asked if I could take his photo at the bottom of the road. He’s looking towards the light. 070316. Photo: Nick Kozak.
I’ve neglected the blog for quite a while oops. Here are some pictures taken with the Fujifilm x100t over the last few days (mostly today) on the streets of Toronto, fun to roam a bit with a little camera.
