I joined the Awareness Walk yesterday which was a march organized by the #FortAlbany #FirstNation Youth Council as a way to bring more attention to the issues surrounding addictions in the community.
It was especially touching to see children leading the group with a Staff and a Smudge and holding signs that said things like “Mom, Dad, stop drinking” and “Stop selling drugs and alcohol”. 072116.
Music producer Douglas Romanow working away to deliver a track with students (off camera) this past Saturday at the #FortAlbany Radio Station.
A very important part of our trip was learning about the community, traditions, surrounding area of #FortAlbany, known traditionally as #Peetabeck. The ArtsCan team’s main guide, Damian MacSeáin, has lived with his family in #FortAlbany for years and helped us navigate our incredible visit.
