He’s fun to needle. 

Isabella hasn’t given up on getting a straight answer out of him, but she knows her best shot is to play the long game. She’s patient. She’ll try to wait him out, or catch him at a moment when the thick veil of charm shrouding his every word parts and - just for a second - reveals something human (well. She’d settle for human-like, at this point.).

But in the mean time, she’s in the business of pressing buttons and cataloguing reactions, like a scientist conducting an experiment on a very curious specimen. Every fifteenth question she might note an almost imperceptible tightening near his jaw, a wrinkle by his eye, a quiet noise in the back of his throat. 

It’s quick - quick enough that she might be able to convince herself she imagined it - but she keeps a diligent record all the same.

“We’re friends right?” she asks him, the question accompanied by a cheeky smile.

“Of course,” his voice is as slick as oil, and he gives a strange grin back.

19, 21, 40!

19. How do they behave within a group? What role(s) do they take? Does this differ if they know and trust the group, versus finding themselves in a group of strangers? Why?

As soon as she’s surrounded by other people, Garnet straightens her back, fixes on a smile and oozes confidence and ease. She’s the leader, demanding attention in the softest way possible. She knows how to work the room - or at least she thinks she does. There’s not a huge difference between Garnet with her friends and strangers. She might shower her friends in compliments more but she’s just as sunny with people she doesn’t know. That will change if she’s around Unseelie. With humans, their might be hints of condescension in her words but with Unseelie, she’s more careful. She’ll smile but it won’t necessarily reach her eyes. And there certainly won’t be a steady stream of compliments.

21. What kind of relationships do they tend to intentionally seek out versus actually cultivate? What kind of social contact do they prefer, and why?

Garnet always seeks out positive relationships. A lot of it is her carefully networking and wanting support in her bid to become queen consort. But most of it is her genuinely enjoying social interaction. She’s just a genuinely friendly person. None of that means she actually cultivates those positive relationships. Her demeanour is definitely overwhelming. Small doses of Garnet may suit those with introverted personalities. 

Garnet definitely prefers face-to-face contact, just because she can try to figure out what the other person is thinking from their expressions, tone of voice and if she’s feeling particularly curious, try to touch a personal belonging of theirs. But she’s a big fan of social media. Snapchat is her favourite and instead of texting, she’ll often film herself talking with a filter on and send that instead.

40. What do they wonder about? What sparks their curiosity and imagination, and why? How is this expressed, if it is?

Motivations. The Archfey of Insight, Garnet is constantly wondering what other’s are thinking and what makes them tick. This manifests in question after question, expressing admiration for jewellery or accessories the other person is wearing and noting facial expressions. She’s also always listening for gossip, ordering another round of cocktails in the hopes of loosening lips.

33. How do they learn about the world–what is their preferred learning style? Hands-on learning with trial and error? Research, reading, and note-taking? Observation or rote memorization? Inductive or deductive reasoning? Seeking patterns and organization? Taking things apart and putting them back together? Creative processing via discussing, writing about, or dramatizing things?

Onyx is very hands on! I imagine he’s also a visual learner as he can see numbers and things like that in his head very easily but he’s also very hands on; his hands are very important to him because they have helped to teach him so much about the world around him. He doesn’t read or note-take, doesn’t partake much in research because he thinks that’s too time-consuming. It comes down to observation and memorization for him, repetition, patterns, reasoning... Logical and analytical approaches is how he consumes the world beyond his hands.

36. How much do they rely on their minds and intellect, versus other approaches like relying on instinct, intuition, faith and spirituality, or emotions? What is their opinion on this?

Depends on the situation but it’s usually a mixture between his mind, instinct and intuition. Rarely does he act on emotion but when he does, he tries to rationalize it to the best of his ability in order for him to commit to whatever it is he’s needing to make sense of to himself..

4. What is their size and build? How does it influence how they use their body, if it does?

Willow is a runner, slim with an athletic build, and of average height. It is their comparatively small stature that Willow first sought out training for close combat, wanting to ensure they would be able to defend themself better if there were any issues at the casino or something went south while on missions for the Seelie court.

27. What do they strongly like and dislike, in any category? Why?

Likes...Gin and tonic.

Dislikes... Being out of gin.

29. What kind of activities, interests, and hobbies do they have? What significance and impact do these have in their lives, both positive and negative?

Willow is eternally curious and has explored a wide range of hobbies and interests through the years. Their favorites have been... anything musical or artistic, having learned both the harp and the piano, and taken several art classes through the decades. They have enjoyed exploring the changing philosophical theories that have come into popularity through the years. They have long enjoyed attending the world class opera every season at the Met, and having taken various dance classes they also enjoy the ballet from time to time as well. Rock climbing, mountain biking, triathlons, skiing, and ping pong have all held Willow’s attention through the years as well.

In short, Willow is curious and will rarely say no to some new adventure or intellectual pursuit.

PRIVATE/OOC: His contact list is probably small and may primarily consist of those he interacts with often, so I’m eyeballing here but Cobalt, Davey, Garnet, Willow, Zinnia.

♌ how do they drink their coffee/tea?

PRIVATE/OOC: Well, since Onyx is quite a big fan of the acidity in Mountain Dew, I imagined he’d go for a very lemon-y tea with a touch of honey, sometimes milk. Coffee is harsh on the other hand but with a hint of caramel or hazelnut for sweetness.
