| URBAN MIGRANT | S-1 Akoijam Tom Tom Chanu Birthplace - Imphal, Present location - Delhi |Homemaker| Tom has been away from her hometown for more than 20 years now. Her thoughts during the lockdown - The first thought I have during the lockdown is that I am so privileged to be able to stay at home and spend quality time with my family. In this fast-paced lifestyle, this is a pause where we can slow down and realise the importance of living our lives in the present and be thankful for all that we have. We are witnessing history and this is a challenge to fight the pandemic and emerge triumphant. However, my prayers for all the poor and needy who are adversely affected during this crisis. Lockdown also means the nature is healing as the pollution decreases. Crimes are less and there is calmness around. Of course, the economy is hit badly and there are many consequences of the lockdown but what's more important than one's life. After all, can't agree more to the saying ."Jaan hai to jahaan hai". I reached out to Tom that I want to start a photo series on people who are away from their hometown during the lockdown and I intend to start with people I know personally. She agreed instantly and we logged into a video call. Her young daughter, Matilda Salam, joined us in the call. She had grown up a lot since the last time I saw her. Thank you, Tom. You got me going on.
