It's hard to pitch your own game, especially one you didn’t even intend to make public, but here we are.
To quote ourselves from our itch.io page: "Utopia is a table-top role-playing game that lets you become part of the Black Pirates, and join the revolution against Z’s oppressive rule of Strictland. Based on K-Pop band Ateez’s storyline, Utopia builds on World Z and creates opportunities for fans of the band and table-top games alike to tell new stories of battles won and lost."
I made Utopia for a friend as a birthday gift. It started as a D&D campaign, expanding into subclasses and settings, and then eventually it became its own beast, as an entirely new system.
And I didn't do it alone: @iluluilui helped by telling me that some of my ideas were insane, and edited the game down into something coherent, and @capefoxalix helped with peer reviewing some of the game mechanics, and designed the logo.
After the birthday, we decided to put it out, since the game was functional, and we knew some people would be interested at the very least. And so we launched Utopia in May, 2025. We were primarily based on twitter (and bluesky) but given the new TOC we felt like we needed a space that was less hostile to creators and gave us room to be creative with how we published the game, and so we moved to tumblr.
So hi! We hope you like the game! It’s a love letter to my best friend, to ATEEZ and to the fandom in its own way.
And we’re not done! We have new things planned, like a supplement with a new Era and new playbooks, allowing us to explore what World Z and Strictland look like after ATEEZ leave and they have to rebuild their world from ruins. We’re also in the process of updating Utopia’s rulebook - if you have any feedback, we’d be so grateful.
Rest assured, Utopia will be an ongoing project for the foreseeable future - we hope you join us on this long journey.
