Women Racing This Week! 5/8-5/10

This is a huge weekend, clearly! It is hard to know where to even begin! As someone in the F1 Academy server said, "I love when motorsport is back in full swing". Let's look at formula racing first, where the coveted Italian F4 starts its highly anticipated season; it fields a handful of female drivers, there are two Norse-centric series going on with a large count of girls racing, and the all-female Kyojo Cup starts its season as well, joining the Porsche Carrera Cup at Fuji. Also, in the world of stock and endurance, Katherine Legge makes her sensational return to the NASCAR Cup at Watkins Glen series ahead of her return to the Brickyard later this May for the world-famous Indy 500. Also on the NASCAR Stock umbrella, Dystany Spurlock is pulling double duty at WG this weekend with an ARCA National appearance and making history as the first-ever Black Woman to debut in NASCAR Trucks

hot take? i love all my F1A drivers but im sorry not all of them 'needs' to reach F1. or F3. F1A; F1 part of Academy is for visibility so in the future we can have a female driver in f1. and she will be an amazing driver. we have lost talented female drivers over the years with funding, preference at male drivers, lack of karting at start even, sposorships etc. but things are coming alive to not lost the greatest ones. ladder is for climbing, not force them. we sitll gonna rightfully hype good drivers but not not unhype mid ones. its just realistically not every f4 driver has showed they are for f3.

Oh yeah I totally agree. We always say that about F4, look at any F4 championship from say, 5 years ago. Like Italian F4. The winners are now in F1; other top scorers are in international GT championships, some are still climbing the ladder, some had to retire because they couldn’t afford it or honestly they are shit.

I think of drivers like Nicole Havrda or Courtney Crone. Single seaters maybe just wasn’t for them. That’s fine. But at least for Nicole, there’s a good chance that being in F1A got her more sponsors and even the opportunity to where she is right now.

Part of what matters in F1 academy for me is opening doors for women ALL across racing. The single seater ladder has always lead to sportscars or endurance or even away from the driving to more technical roles. The important part is opening these doors
