a couple for🐕:
Asking Natalia to move out again is perhaps the most embarrassing thing Buck has ever done in his life, and that says a lot. Natalia, to her credit, takes it incredibly well—which is to say, she doesn't talk to him for three days because she Needs a moment to think about things, but after an apology dinner that Buck spent 5 hours and $75 worth of ingredients on, as well as two very hot rounds of make-up sex, Buck can confidently say that their relationship is not just back to normal, but maybe even better than before. They've decided on microdosing moving in—every couple days or so, Natalia will bring something from her apartment over, maybe move around some furniture of his, and then over dinner they debate whose mattress is better, whose carpets are worse, whose cutlery they should decide to keep.
some 🐊:
Neither of them actually sign up for a song, though Diaz does hum along to what's playing every now and then, the lock of hair that's fallen into his face dancing as he bobs his head with the beat. There is one moment, when he's finished his second beer, gorgeous brown eyes locked onto the mic-stand, where it does seem like he's about to soft-launch the idea of getting up on stage, asking, "Do you think they have—" before someone at the bar cuts him off, shouting about how they're about to hand out the quiz sheets. Tommy silently thanks the universe for that one because he can't say he's in the mood for completely embarrassing himself on stage tonight—he'll leave that one to the professionals, like the guy currently screeching out a deafening cover of Head Over Heels.
a little 🐢:
When Christopher thinks about his mom, the first thing that comes to mind is the picture on his desk of them both at the beach. Him in one of Dad's ugly beach chairs, her crouching next to him, the both of them smiling like it's the best day ever. Dad gave it to him, two days after the funeral. Said it was something to remember her by. As long as we keep her in our hearts, she'll always be with us. Something like that—or at least something equally as kitschy—he'd said.
and last but not least a couple 🐎:
The truth is, Eddie cannot quite conceive who he was when he broke up with Marisol. It kind of just… happened, the way all things just happen in Eddie's life, and from moment to another he'd gotten off another train at a random stop, not knowing why he'd ever been on it in the first place, or why he'd ever choose to step out onto the platform instead. What he does know is that he felt infinitely lighter afterwards — as if he'd left his luggage back on the train and only now that it was gone realized he'd been hoisting around dead weight. Maybe it was the rosary he'd found at her home that was wrapping itself around his neck, bead after bead pressing into his skin—maybe it was all the half-hearted sex, stifling heat and meaningless quickies leaving his body carved out and hollow after the pleasure dissipated—maybe it was that one time after waking up in his bed, Marisol groaned We're keeping my mattress, not this slab of stone wrapped in a bedsheet, and Eddie felt his lungs drawn tight by a future he simply could not picture himself in. None of that had been abnormal, of course.
make me write!
