This past Sunday we had a southern style #sundaydinner and I made @foodculturist's Black Walnut Pineapple Upside cake from her #cookbook "The Up South Cookbook". The cake was amazing. A perfect cake for coffee and simple noun to make of folks are coming over in a few hours. Caramelized pineapples and a black walnut sauce with a crumby white cake...it literally lasted a few days. Yesterday's meal was a southern comfort food Sunday Dinner! Muva's Inspired Red Beans and Rice which is a like Louisana red beans and rice but instead of andouille sausage I use sage sausages and I made fried shrimp and scallop and #nicoletaylor's Black Walnut Pineapple Upsode Down cake with a few tweaks. It was great! #soulfood #comfortfood

Sense: Feel

There are moments, and have been moments lately where I quite often wished I had Dorothy's magical slippers that I could click together, and repeat "There's no place like home".

For most (some?) people, there really isn't another place like there is home. Home is a place where you feel protected. Where you feel as if time stops when you've been living your normal life away from home. It's a place where you can have your time to cry, and feel that it's perfectly okay to do so. It's a place where you feel that where your back bone is it's strongest, when at times being away it loosens up after having to use it as protection constantly. It's a place where we're able to regroup ourselves, and remind us where we came from... it helps us see certain situations on the big screen. 

Sometimes being home, is just what you need... It can be the cure to many little things.

Sense: Sight (Once again in my head...)

I closed my eyes and I saw myself in a forrest with a white glow surrounding me. A white horse next to me, protecting me... keeping me calm. Stars twinkling above me and the moon sending me kisses of strength. Strength, for tomorrow's day battle.

Sense: Hear/ Sight (in my mind)

In a large empty field somewhere in the country, people are celebrating the beauty of their planet, Earth/ Mother Nature, love, and life. Instruments playing, people dancing, young girls picking flowers and making them into beautiful chains... and the two lovers, loving, dancing, running into the fields looking for a place where they won't be seen. Where they're able to make love in the open arms of Mother Nature.

Sense: Taste

For those people who are true coffee people, there's nothing more important than that first cup of coffee in the morning. It's funny how we can be so dependent on something that can "change" the start of the rest of your day. Personally, I find it to be one of my favorite simple pleasures in life. The warmth sliding down your throat right to your stomach, the strong taste satisfying you, right along with giving you that kick in the end... and let out a long deep breath of satisfaction. That to me says "Good morning!"
