Ever since you mentioned Nifty in one of your posts I've been scrolling through the website reading random stories. In particular I've been reading stories by authors "Of Blessed Memory" as I've found it kind of sombrely fascinating. One story had a note that it had been uploaded by the author's son(?), as they said their dad was unwell and "would be back soon". :( I'd never heard of this website before your post and after reading an interview with the site's creator it seems that even he sees Nifty has fallen out of the public consciousness. Maybe I've just been living under a rock though, I only began reading fanfiction less than two years ago so I'm behind on what sites people read stories on. I'm interested to know how you originally found Nifty!
I feel kind of sad that I haven't seen any mention of Nifty before, I hope somehow more people begin to visit it so the stories there are seen and aren't forgotten. I'm glad I caught your post that mentioned it!
I've never seen the "of blessed memory" section before! I'll have to check that out.
I've been using nifty since before ao3 existed or I was technically old enough to actually access it. God only knows how I found it way back then. Finding porn on-line in 2005 was like an entire different arcane skillset.
It's definitely a dinosaur but there's great stuff hiding there if you're willing to dig. It's one of those internet sites that once it's gone will really just disappear into the void. It has 30+ years of queer erotica on it though.
