unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.

By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.

There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.

That's queerbaiting.

Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.

The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.

Doing it on accident sucks, but it isn't a tactic of capitalism intentionally intended to suppress queer representation while making money from queer fans.

I feel deep satisfaction looking at this illustration, because it's not only lovely and very well done, with allusions to some fine Polish art traditions, but the character choice is exquisite AND guaranteed to make certain specific groups of people absolutely foaming at the mouth. Frothing :)

Some of you are not aware, but these characters are both connected with very very strong Polish mythos: they are both, in their own right, heroes, because winged hussars were indubitably our coolest cavalry ever; and the Kraków costume has strong connections with Kosynierzy (Scythemen), a formation of peasants armed with scythes and axes, first meant as auxiliary in Kościuszko insurrection of 1794, and then made famous by a minor, yet very culturally important battle of Racławice in which they took notable part. So. They are both among the most deeply meaningful figures of Polish history and symbols of military success narrative - the coolest of the cool, the most patriotic of all, and this is Very Satisfying :)

this is masculine lingerie. Feminine lingerie mostly came from similar things in women's fashion -- garter belts etc. I think there is a lot of room for developing it more, but this is, imo, absolutely masculine lingerie, and i wish men's fashion designers would start focusing on that more

since i've seen it asked what purpose sleeve garters serve:

Sleeve garters are just so you can keep your cuffs right where you want them, typically used professionally by people like bartenders, who are wearing dress shirts to do manual labor and don't want their cuffs brushing through spills when they are wiping down the bar etc... but also useful for keeping cuffs exactly the right length for your suit without having to tailor all your shirts, or, if you have several suit coats with slightly different length sleeves, you can always have your dress shirt's cuffs showing that perfect half inch below the suit sleeve or whatever the fashion is for the time

right now it's about 1/2 an inch, but that's the sort of thing, like tie length, that can change a little with fashion trends -- but basically, you never want your shirt cuffs to be doing this

Because that looks SO sloppy, right? Looks like you're wearing your father's shirt under your little brother's jacket

BUT! you do want the cuffs showing, like this

because it makes the suit sleeve look precise and on purpose, or you might push it and show even more if you are wearing nice cuff links

because this clearly still looks purposeful and precise, and shows off your jewelry.

often, fashion dictates taking any opportunity to show your layers -- for example in medieval europe it was fashionable to literally slash expensive outer garments so you could ALSO see some of the expensive clothing underneath, which is how before long you get "slashed" sleeve patterns like this becoming popular among the wealthy

(notice the roughly half inch of sleeve cuff showing at the bottom here as well)

So a sleeve garter allows you to keep your sleeve cuffs positioned exactly where you want them, for either fashion or activity
