once again I am on the hunt for glasses for weird little freaks, but this time I've found some cool ones pretty easily! so in case anyone else is looking, I stumbled across some real weird and gay frames at all of these sites:

like, eyeshells in particular has a startlingly vast collection of asymmetric glasses:

while aoolia has...tbh a lot of the frames the other sites have, but more expensive, but also, a collection of the gayest people you've ever seen:

(I can't vouch for any of these companies ofc, though I think I'll get something from at least one of them. ideally not the slime glasses, but hey!)

but honestly the absolute best thing I found in all of this is this site that makes vintage fashion, and which happened to have:

you can even buy with prescription lenses, jesus fucking christ you have no idea how hard it is to not immediately drop $180 on this shit, I'm having to physically restrain myself, I want them so fucking bad

I can personally vouch for zeelool and vooglam. I have glasses from both that I wear daily and have help up well. But watch out, mentioning their names means they will completely take over every personalized ad you see on every platform for the rest of your life.

I would not be taken in by the tradwife influencer grift about milking a cow in a sundress. I have been around cows. my uncle was a dairy farmer. I love not milking a cow. I love getting milk from a store. I love getting vegetables and fruit and meat and bread from a store.

would I rather it be a local farm's store or a local bakery or butcher shop? yes! maybe when I make more money!

the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this

A personal per-peeve of mine about pseudohistory is how people forgot that humans have been travelling and trading Forever. Legit out-of-place artifacts, ancient aliens, similarities between distinct cultures, and rapid diffusion of technology can (partly) be explained by the fact that sometimes a guy will fuck off in a boat. Humans have also had continent-spanning trade networks for millenia and not every link in the chain knew about all the others. Combine that with a lack of writing for many cultures and what is now a mystery was probably at the time very mundane.

Yeah, there's an unexamined assumption that people had no way of passing things along over long distances without modern technology. Hell, even people who aren't into pseudohistory fall prey to this. But back in the 15th century, glass beads from Venice were traded all the way to Alaska. Humanity's always been capable of spreading things around.
