All fantasy authors wish they had a bigger bathtub in their house. You can tell by every bathing scene ever written into a fantasy novel
I thought I hadn’t done this because all I could remember were mikveh scenes but no I definitely put the Luxurious Bath in Sorel where they get scrubbed out of their fox skin and dressed up as a handsome officer for mysterious Angel of Death reasons

Stanley Kubrick’s painfully funny take on Cold War anxiety is one of the fiercest satires of human folly ever to come out of Hollywood. The
YOU NEED TO HAVE WATCHED STANLEY KUBRICK'S 1964 NUCLEAR SATIRE MASTERPIECE DR. STRANGELOVE, OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB, NOW.

GIF 1: Odo uncrosses his arms and stares at Garak, who is looking away with wide eyes. "You'd shoot a man in the back?" Odo asks.
GIF 2: Garak continues to look pointedly away from Odo. "Well, it's the safest way, isn't it?" Garak says.

This is a truly ridiculous piece of fashion and someone had so much fun designing it.

I always thought Reddit was a place where people could share things they created.A few days ago I posted one of my original paintings. People loved it. We had wonderful conversations about art, emotions, and how everyone saw something different in the same sunset.
About two hours later I was permanently banned from r/MadeMeSmile for “self-promotion.”
I accepted that different communities have different rules. But then something even stranger happened.Soon afterward, a moderator from r/pics started going through my account. Not just the new post—many of my older painting posts disappeared as well. One after another. Then I was permanently banned there too.
Maybe it was the same moderator. Maybe it wasn’t. I honestly don’t know.
What surprised me wasn’t even the ban itself. It was realizing how much power individual moderators have over what millions of people are allowed to see. One decision can erase years of posts from a community and instantly cut off your ability to participate, even if those posts had been happily sitting there for months or years.I’m not saying moderators shouldn’t have rules. Communities need moderation. But it does make you wonder where the line is between protecting a community and allowing a single interpretation of the rules to completely reshape what people can share.
The funny part?
I wasn’t advertising anything in those posts. I wasn’t posting prices or asking anyone to buy anything. I was simply sharing my original paintings because I enjoy discussing art with strangers from around the world.
Anyway…
Here’s the painting that apparently caused all the trouble. 🎨
She’s not in the tournament, but free my girl Rosie Cotton from The Lord of the Rings. She committed the crime of being a love interest to a male character who is shipped with another man. The fandom constantly disregards her and calls her Sam’s “beard” despite the fact that they’re very much in love and have 13 kids together! I don’t care that she’s a minor character, the LOTR/wider Tolkien fandom is happy to flesh out minor male characters all the time. Why can’t Rosie get the same attention?
rosie cotton propaganda!
She's in the game Tales of the Shire, and she's so fleshed out! (As much as the characters in that game are fleshed out). Wants to prove herself as a good farmer to her kind but sexist father, has a works hard and takes no bullshit attitude. Little hints that she might have a crush on Sam but it very much "swept under the rug" in that "no no, I didn't make a comment about him, please grow these veggies for me". I haven't finished the whole friendship quest with her yet so I might be missing some stuff, but Weta did a pretty good job considering how the fandom treats her.
Fish with arms i guess

“ok lets do warm up sketch”

“The police spend very little of their time dealing with violent criminals—indeed, police sociologists report that only about 10% of the average police officer’s time is devoted to criminal matters of any kind. Most of the remaining 90% is spent dealing with infractions of various administrative codes and regulations: all those rules about how and where one can eat, drink, smoke, sell, sit, walk, and drive. If two people punch each other, or even draw a knife on each other, police are unlikely to get involved. Drive down the street in a car without license plates, on the other hand, and the authorities will show up instantly, threatening all sorts of dire consequences if you don’t do exactly what they tell you. The police, then, are essentially just bureaucrats with weapons. Their main role in society is to bring the threat of physical force—even, death—into situations where it would never have been otherwise invoked, such as the enforcement of civic ordinances about the sale of untaxed cigarettes.”
— An excerpt from Ferguson & the Criminalization of American Life by David Graeber (via actjustly)
since i think many will have had the memory slip with just how many other atrocities have occured in the past 11 years, or are simply too young to remember, the last bit about the sale of untaxed cigarettes isn’t just some hypothetical, it’s a reference to the killing of eric garner
this is the origin of the slogan “i cant breathe”, which was revived in the wake of the killing of george floyd.
On this day, 17 July 2014, Eric Garner was murdered by police enforcing a civic ordinance.
trying to work out who would be the weak link at the fellowship garden barbecue. obviously not sam, frodo doesn't really cook but does bring a huge amount of expensive cheese and wine from bilbo's cellar so he's out. merry and pippin exceed expectations which are admittedly low. boromir and gimli bring insane quantities of meat and spend the whole time at the grill cooking it and flexing, which is befitting of these kind of things. might be legolas but i think he would bring a lot of mushrooms, herb marinades, salads etc which is a good balance which unfortunately leaves mr six pack and trail jerky aragorn son of arathorn. (gandalf arrives late with dessert)
doodled this post because I couldn’t stop thinking about aragorn just pulling up and nobody knows where he got any of that. neither does he. where is he? what is he holding?? don’t ask him any more questions
”#I THINK op meant a modern day barbecue but I kept laughing so I drew this instead, #hope you don’t mind me jumping on your post!, #been thinking about lotr lately and this gave me an excuse to draw the fellowship”
