The Raven Cycle Music Playlist

This is obviously not official and is completely my opinion on things. But I just wanted to share it because why not? Also, be aware that I feel like a complete geek for doing this, but I just had to.

Night Beds - You Were Afraid // I don’t know why, but I just think that the melody and the simplicity of this song matches the series so well, especially The Raven Boys. I listened to this while reading the entire first book and so it has really stuck.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream // This is a Pynch song. Fight me about it. Anyways, I’d like to think this relates to them after they’ve confessed their feelings and are completely in love with each other.

Aurora - Under Stars // I don’t have to mention that Aurora is also a name of a character in the series so let’s skip that. There are so many good quotes within the series about stars that are very impactful and meaningful. Not to mention that the song gives off a magical vibe to it and there’s lyrics that go, “they have only fallen asleep” and it correlates so well with the sleeping kings and sleepers.

Crywolf (Bassnectar remix) - Rising Rising // Again, like Under Stars, this gives off such magical vibes. The tinkering sounds just makes you feel like you’ve been transported into the world. Not to mention that I was crying to this song at the end of TRK so it has definitely stuck.

Son Lux - We Are The Ones // I’ve mentioned this song and the next one on a different post but I’ll reiterate myself. The simplicity of it, going into this more structured and build up of sound matches the series and it’s events so well, especially TRK. Also the lyrics of “we are the ones this time” just matches so well because essentially the entire Gangsey are chosen ones.

Lorde - Perfect Places // This song belongs fully to The Dream Thieves. TDT is fun and dark and sad, just like Perfect Places. It’s really just that the upbeat sounds and lyrics match the book so so well.

U2 - I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For // This is a huge Gansey song. Let’s be honest, the ending is what established this to be his song. This song is about the journey instead of the destination and boy, it matches so well. Because Gansey didn’t find what he was looking for. Makes me cry but... okay let’s move on.

Madcon - Beggin’ // This is a more obscure one, I’ll admit. I could come up with a reason as to how it can connect to TRC but I don’t think it does. I was really just feeling this song while reading TRK. But I will admit that the beat matches the fast paced and intense filled scenes.

Taylor Swift - Safe and Sound // Is it offensive that I think this matches TRC as well as it does with THG? Whatever. I think this goes along with Adam’s character really well because he always says how he’s tired and that for when he opens his eyes he finally wants to feel awake. It embodies him really well especially with his past.

Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes // Basically Ronan talking about Adam. That’s it. But just think instead of eyes, it’s hands.

Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen // I mean this song goes hand in hand with everything this series is about. Literally anything could happen with the entire gang together. 

Taylor Swift - Out of the Woods // Trees are wood and the Gangsey talks to trees so it’s fitting, in my opinion. Jokes aside, I think it fits the whole group dynamic with their moments of playfulness, seriousness, and just their overall general love for each other. It gives a sense of nostalgia for me.

The Jonas Brothers - Lovebug // This is such a Blusey song. I mean the first line of the song is “Called you for the first time yesterday” and these two nerds have these cute phone calls because they just need to hear each other’s voice to be okay again.
