After forever, I got my very first Living Dead Doll obsession. This nightmare creature was the first LDD I adored and coveted. Don't expect its review especially soon because Series 31 has a whole project concept I'm thinking of, but there was a good deal on this monster and one of its series castmates, so I got them early. Still, getting them now means the project is now decisively in motion, so I do expect it done before the end of the year at the latest!
Based on a recent dream I had where I was SUPPOSEDLY watching someone play a Subnautica Below Zero-like game, but it felt more like I was the one holding the controller. And they were going down into a dark biome to find one of the bases. Underwater dreams are pretty freaky to me to begin with, and this was much worse with THIS BEAST doing a big jumpscare where I got a close-up of its face followed by a terrifying roar.
Something in the dream told me that that's how you know it saw you. Like something out of Forbidden Siren. I was like "NO KIDDING" while yelling at someone and reciting the main caption.
The close-up was closer than this and much scarier than what I can draw. But I doodled what I could remember. I want to add more to this beast than what I saw in the dream since it was just the eyes and teeth flashing in pitch darkness. Never got to see what the whole thing looked like because that's how dreams work.
Based the sketch on moray eels since that's sort of what the mouth/face reminded me of. Now to just make it more Subnautica-ish.
No you MAY NOT use him for anything as he is just a wip at the moment. And even after I finish him, he is STILL not up for grabs.
While I COULD SAY Red Alert would be this guy's theme song, this feels more appropriate because of the way the moment in the dream scared me so bad. (Not enough to wake me up, oddly enough...)
And a mysterious man in blue everyone calls him the monster of nightmares because his design is downright scary even Duke doesn't even want to come near
If you're interested I'd really like to see your take on a dream demon that invades readers dreams each night, trapping Reader in their own personal hell/paradise >D

“Go the fuck to bed,” your coffee mug was yanked away from your hands, hot liquid sloshed and splattered on the skin of your hands. Jerking back you shot an offended look at your partner, “you looked like a fucking raccoon.”
“Give it back!” You launched after the cup, but they kept well out from your reach, “Shit!” Your strength fled fast.
Your partner poured the last of coffee down the drain and yanked you to your feet, “Damn, babe, you’ve been up for days—and you could barely stand.” You whimpered pathetically when they tossed you over their back, “Coffee ain’t doing you any jack shit anymore.”
“But the monster—” You tried, fighting your eyelids to stay open. Your fingers were like lead, pulling down to the gravity—useless to fighting your spouse.
“That again?” Releasing an annoyed sigh, they ferried you across rooms and a hallway, “Honey, they don’t exist. You need to drop that—I’ll make you an appointment, I swear. Just,” they slid you off their back and laid your slacked body down on the mattress, “please—sleep.” They begged, their voice soft.
Sob broke your throat and you feebly reached out for their hand, “Then,” your breathing became slow, “I won’t come…back…”
You couldn’t hear what their words, fuzziness festering in your ears. A press of their lips on your temple was the last comforting thing you could cherish, before darkness consumed you whole. An eternity in a minute passed you by, as you drifted through the pitch blackness. It was suffocating.
You wrapped your arms around yourself and curled into a ball, hoping against hope—
Oozing lines curled around your limbs, slowly breaching your fragile mental fortitude. “Nononono…” You gritted your teeth and clamped your eyes shut. Those tentacles turned your stomach that an urge ate at you to empty its contents.
“Welcome home,” a hoarse voice cracked the darkness, clashing over you like a raging ocean. You inhaled sharply at a strand of oil coiled around your neck and yet you refused to open your eyes. “you had fun staying awake, I hope?” A sickly sweet giggle dug into your skin like maggots.
You shallowed your cries the moment your hands were yanked from your chest and pinned above your head, “Enough—!”
“Ah but you said it yourself, I’m just a nightmare.” Hands, too many hands, roamed across your skin. Goosebumps peppered under the trails of their touches, “not so convinced anymore, I see?”
A hand—you couldn’t tell for sure with its wet texture but it felt like one, gripped your jaw, “Leave me alone! Please,” you choked on a sob, “don’t you have enough?” You still refused to look.
“Enough?” The giggle was long and discordant, “Of you? No, never!” Slimy sensation drenched your unwashed pajama and soaked down to your skin, chilling you down to the bone. “You’re hurting my feelings, lovely,” nausea exploded in your stomach from their strange weight pooling down on your body. You found it hard to fight the impulse to vomit, “hadn’t we been friends since you were small?”
“You are just imaginary!” You snapped out, craning away your chin from their grasp. Something was prying apart your thighs. Whatever protection your clothes provided was gone and you were left freezing under this strange entity.
Their form wasn’t something your mind can fathom, ever-changing and eldritch. But, rarely were they warm. As a kid, you were used to it. You loved winters growing up, the season that brought your broken family together to a sense of happy normalcy. It was natural for you to have an imaginary friend made from stuffs you liked, right?
So when had it change?
Your childhood imaginations, changed into something right out from the pit of Hell itself. Someone—or something, you’ve forgotten for years, came back with a vengeance. Nightmares soured your dreams and set your soul on the path of uncertainty and confusion.
Those nightmares, while oftentimes terrifyingly, were…oddly pleasurable. You barely remembered most of the details, only that you woke up needing to change your underwear and a cold shower in the morning daily.
You hadn’t thought much of your nightmares—not until recently, when you woke up with evidence on your body. Strange black substances lined across your body, more notable in your loin. You accused your partner of doing something strange to you—but they denied any wrongdoings.
They did get worried when they saw those strange marks on you, but then they suggested you’ve been sleepwalking. Perhaps you were messing around with some kind of black paint in another room. They were quite a heavy sleeper—and them being a late-shift worker hadn’t helped your circumstance any. Since then your dreams—nightmares became more coherent each night.
You woke up a shivering mess.
You dreaded sleeping.
“Next time, you won’t wake up.” Their warning came in a purr, your heart ice-cold at the declaration, “I’ll get to keep you to myself. We’ll be together forever, like you promised.”
You refused to fall asleep afterward, clinging on your partner and close friends and family. You knew it might be the last time you’d ever see them. So, in your own way, you were saying your farewells—despite your wills not to go where the nightmares wanted you to go.
You fought bravely, but in the end, you lost.
Tears pricked from the corners of your eyes at those hands prodding your face, “Come on, it’s time to open those pretty eyes of yours,
“To the realm of sweet dreams,” a laugh tailed those terrible words, “and nightmares—me.”
Beneath the sticky pool of oil, you were sorely and truly trapped. Whimpering, you tried to ignore the freezing touches from the monster’s shapeless limbs. Something hot startled you—scorching you in between your legs. Your eyes flew open—to a white smile far too big on an inky entity, “Welcome home, my lovely,” they crooned over your grief-wrenched face, “it’d been a very long wait, hadn’t it?”
Here’s in a underrated spooky kaiju for Halloween: Inculas from episode 8 of Ultraman Cosmos. He appears in people’s dreams as cute little pink sheep and traps them in his own dream realm that looks like a giant school play.
