Katherine glanced up at the unexpected guest,          rolling her eyes and letting out a dramatic          huff -- pushing her interrupted dinner         onto the floor in a haphazard manner that         showed clearly how much she actually          cared for this particular boy-toy's wellbeing.

         Ice had never been her strong point. She was better with fire and earth, with things warm and content. Ice was a slippery element to master, and so instead of making an ice rink or the like, she'd taken to melting whatever was in her path so she wouldn't slip and fall on her ass. It was the middle of the night so she wasn't worried about anyone seeing her.

        Or rather, she hadn't been worried until she spotted someone on the sidewalk coming her way. Immediately she stopped thawing the ice and quickened her pace to pass the other. Living in New England for 90% of her life, she should have known not to quick step on ice. Almost as soon as she had stepped past the stranger, she was down on the ground, having slid on a patch of black ice.
