Am i the only one who whenever I read a Soulmates fanfic, I just start trying to work out all the flaws in Soulmates AUs?
Like in my head I have a version of Soulmates where there is contingency plan after contingency plan for all the flaws.
My Soulmate Au Ideas/Work arounds:
You only get a “soulmate mark” when you are both mentally and physically ready for a relationship. Aro/Ace included. Poly also included. LGBTQIA+ included. Can be platonic or romantic.
The mark is not a name but something that symbolizes the soulmate. Usually like a small tattoo but raised on the skin so blind people can feel them.
Soulmate marks will also only appear if you will meet/see them soon. Can be someone you already know or a stranger. There is also no difference between platonic and romantic marks.
Where the mark is depends on the person. If you lose the limb the mark is on, it will move to a different part of your body.
Your soulmate mark is taken away if you are a horrible person and will only come back if you become a good person.
If your soulmate dies, you can choose whether to keep the mark but you will get a new one if you ever feel ready for a relationship again(refer to #1)
Soulmate marks can come later after you’ve already started a relationship with someone(turning a relationship into soulmates)
Soulmate marks can be covered up with makeup and its a personal choice to show them or not.
To confirm a Soulmate match, both parties must be aware of and acknowledge each others marks.(Does not have to be in person) Both marks will change slightly once this is done, if they both accept each other. If they choose not to be together platonic or romantic then the marks will disappear. Those are just from the top of my head ideas. I still think soulmate au’s are cute even if they are flawed as a default.
