nighttime musings
I think one of the reasons I love fandoms, books, films, and series as much as I do is that they're the one place where I can see myself in the mirror.
The characters, with their flaws, baggage, softness, and those hard edges and dark corners of the soul where some wouldn't dare go, the duality of the self, the tenderness that bleeds raw. The all-consuming love and ice exterior, the flowers with ethanol smell.
Those characters with their late nights and morose thoughts; and their hopeful sunrises. The sweetness of summer ice cream and the bitterness of too-much-lemon lemonade.
The characters that are both fragile and strong, broken and whole. That would give it all and would risk it all but would concede nothing.
I want to taste their words in my mouth and feel them seep into my brain like a welcome home stream. A recognition of ah, here you belong. Here we belong. Here we are. We're not alone.
