im /literally/ funding a green house garden in gotham under your name wtf
are you telling me that batman and bruce wayne are the same person ?
ASK MEME, you’re different in person.
the words rouse a certain redness in the very points of your malleable features, bashful bruisings that you are desperate to conceal with the novel safeties you found beneath the expressionless mask. it kept your identity as it kept your fallible guise, anonymity brought with it a valuable vacuity: as though nothing inside you passed your outer bearings, apathy upon stone-cold, shapeless visage. here, everything was plain to see: to probe and dissect like that of an animal inside a menagerie. here, you became their entertainment. you were unsure of what meaning belonged behind @nightwarn‘s comment; still mesmerised by hulking, great presence that you surmised a reverie between the two of you, rampant thoughts likely feigning the extent of his supposed fascination with your wild ingenuity. his voice was tampered with an indifference you could not yet decipher, a half-forced hoarseness that always managed to flatten his interest into a rather callousness. was it all for show? you supposed it may have to be, given that he remains here in your company. you smile coyly, averting your gaze to the ground with a sudden shyness. sandy hair hits the blazing beam of unshaded light and absorbs from it a haloesque tint, and for a moment, you could almost appear innocent.
“ the mask—— it unearths the better part of me, i—— i wish you could’ve seen it. met me. the real me. ”
@nightwarn said : BRUCE HUG ACCEPTING HUGS FOR ALFRED.
--- it’s not that the hugs are uncommon so much as they are unexpected. he’ll never complain upon receiving one, but it catches him off guard all the same. “ you all right, master bruce? ” in younger years, alfred would often hug bruce as if one of their lives depended on it - this particular interaction lacks the usual desperate tinge, but alfred holds him just the same: with his entire heart behind it. palm settles on the back of the younger man’s head whilst the other rests square between his shoulder blades. “ long night, son? ”
oof, there's a lot of complicated feelings bruce has towards eddie, while he'll never excuse the murders that he orchestrated, bruce can also see the path eddie had been born from. failed by a system that had been set up by thomas, which bruce feels partially responsible for, though knowing he would never be able to fully rectify that; a bridge that was burned long ago. i think he perceives eddie as an individual that's lost, comforting his own resentment and anger towards a large, faceless system by bestowing suffering onto innocents; in a way, becoming the very thing that hurt him in the first place. idk, sorry for the novel!
ASK MEME, how does your muse perceive mine?
complicated is certainly the right word, because i think edward has similar unintelligible feelings towards bruce in that the part of him that wanted bruce Dead was birthed from real suffering, and some Unfathomable amount of envy. the thing that’s so interesting is that bruce and edward, really, are two sides of the same coin; one who saw wealth and fulfilment and people in his life that could replicate love and parenthood, and one who underwent pain and despair that we couldn’t even begin to imagine!!!! it really is a telling of the Duality of capitalism and also journalism? because as edward said, everyone wanted to talk about bruce w/ayne and forgot him !!!! and it’s the same IRL. it’s often made to seem that without a name, you are nothing, and you don’t matter. anyway. i wrote a novel back but i could talk about them for Hours, bestie.
@nightwarn said: i’m not afraid.
“fear is what divides us.” fear is what keeps aliens in cages, and keeps metahumans in the shadows. fear fuels hate, and heart-ache — there’s no place for fear in a world that keeps evolving, for better or worse, with new communities. (there’s one that lives under nationaI city’s shadow — aliens, terrified of showing their true forms. I-corp’s image inducers run rife around the workplace, when all she wants to demonstrate is earnest acceptance.)
“i’m glad you’re not afraid. i am. but there are a lot of people out there who are.” (they fear her, which pains her like a kick to the stomach. they fear her from the synthetic kryptonite coursing through her veins, or the power that one punch instils. it’s a shame she holds heavily on her back. world-killer. earth-ender. is this who you want your children to admire? depend on? what if supergirI turns her back on us?)
“and it’s something that we all have to work on. so... if you need me, i’m there. and i’ll always come. that’s a promise.”
❛ CAN WE BE WHO we need to be, can we accomplish what we need to accomplish, if we only exist in the shadows? ❜
