Genuinely wild to me how one of the arguments against Devin Grayson and why she is hated so much on is that she apparently has self indulgent storylines? Which?? Huh????
Like i also see people hating her because she changed her name to "grayson" like her favourite character. When people litterally constantly get tatoos of their favourite series or characters, or base their lives and decorate their rooms, even build shrines to some of their favourite characters, but she changed to her name to leave behind her past (which if you find a problem with that, then you have a problem with any trans person or person in general who changes heir names to leave behind their past and replace it with something meaningful to them.
Back to the being a fan, lets be so for real, how many countless people would die to be given the opportunity to write for their favourite character, or be involved wih their favourite series? Bro even dc fans who dont aspire to write for it still acknowledge that the best written stories are the ones written by fans, and yes i know and believe there has to be a balance because the author could just bring in a whole ton of ooc fanon, but how many times has things been praised for being "written by fans for fans"?
Like she has an interesting take on brudick, and while i dont agree with it, i can acknowledge that it IS an interesting perspective to their relationship that she has, but even then, she never even HINTS to that in her comics, she doesnt just shove her own hcs into the maiinline and still writes her own fanfiction.
With the arc she wrote she wanted to tackle a serious topic, one that she herself was a victim of. She has said that she wanted with that arc to break dick down completely to build his back up again, an interesting character study, but then she was ripped away from that plotline by dc's heads, but apparently she is fetishising it and being self indulgent and disgusting because she is a dick grayson fan who managed to get in for writing the comics?
